MapSplorer v1.1.1
« on: July 28, 2006, 06:37:57 pm »
I am happy to present to you, MapSplorer!

NEWS ALERT-
I don't have enough time took keep this program up anymore, so I will be releasing the source code.
It was coded in Visual Basic 6.
I will soon be releasing the source code, once i find time to go through the source and add/edit comments to make the source more clear. =]

Current Version: 1.1.1

(NOTICE: if you have windows 95, 2000, or ME do NOT install this. It will mess your computer up! This program is for windows XP and up ONLY)

What does MapSplorer do?
MapSplorer searches your soldat map folder and compiles a list of all your maps and their details. You can see your maps in an organized fashion between CTF, HTF, DM/Team/Point matches, and Climbing & Dodgeball maps. You can also search through the maps and find the exact map your looking for.

Features added in 1.1.1 -
- Added ability to see map title.
- Added ability to see map texture.
- Added progress bar.
- Fixed some bugs.

Features added in 1.1 -
- All-Out GUI modification.
- Optimized the code.

Feature List 1.0 (Beta) - 1.5 (non-beta) here:
http://jeyrad.googlepages.com/ofl.txt

===NOTICE===-
Please post all bugs and suggestions here. They help me out a lot, thanks.

I haven't used this and don't have any use for it, though I have one suggestion that I think a bunch of people would like.

Can you make it re-create a zip file for a map?  I know that a lot of people say "oh this map kicks ass, try it!"

"where can I get it?"

"hang on... ugh I can't find a download link"

so, since you can read the file to get a list of the sceneries/textures/edges it needs... can you just tinker with it and have it create a new zip file with all of the proper folders?

If so, please note this:

1) linux servers need to have the zip contain folders with lowercase folder names, eg maps instead of Maps, scenery-gfx instead of Scenery-gfx, etc.
2) windows doesn't care about cases, so having it use maps instead of Maps etc.... really doesn't matter

Thus, please have the zip use lowercase foldernames :P  This is something that EnEsCe needs to change if he ever releases a new version of his map packager thing.

I was planning on releasing that in the beta (version 1.0, the current one) but i didnt have enough time to get that in and i have to look up how to zip things through my program. Thanks for replying =]

Date Posted: July 28, 2006, 08:22:50 PM
Version 1.5 now available! GET TO DOWNLOADING, you can now pack your map into one folder... err as in it will only take you to click the "Pack Map" button and the program automatically finds the scenery that map needs and adds it into a folder along with the map.

If you  get that message whinning about an ocx or a dll that you are sure you have then I think you have to register it.
Go to start > Run, type that and push ok:

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\prjChameleon.ocx

also I'v noticed that alot of fan apps require the .net framework. Does this? If so specify a minimum version.

anyway if this program works and if he does what flies suggested I will download it and use it.

Don't work for me. Also i can't see prjChameleon.ocx in my system32 folder.

It works but how about the "textures" and "edges" folders ? Many custom maps use them.

It has to be c:\Soldat\ ?

For the sake of organization I have mine set to c:\Program Files\Soldat\.

Does this mean I have to wait for the v1.0 to try it?

Thanks for the fix, I just have a tiny problem that does not affect how the program works or anything. The help and exit buttons are black with no detail on them like shown in the screenshot. You might want to get that fixed or might not if you can't be bothered.

Very nice program, it was a very good idea to add mappacking capabilities to it (ty flab). Good job.

Great, the buttons are fixed too.  :)

Could you make it so that multiple maps can be selected and put into a folder?

This is what I'm thinking:

1. You select the maps you would like to pack into one folder
2. Click the Pack Map button
3. A window comes up asking for what you would like this folder to be called
4. A folder is created in this layout:
.    "Mappack name" -> Maps -> Map1
.                                           Map2
.                                           Map3
.                          -> Scenery-gfx -> Scenery from all maps
.                          -> Textures -> Textures from all maps

It'd just save time when making mappacks, instead going into each map folder you have made and copying all the folders in each one into a folder.

Anyway, what you're doing is great.

anyway thanks for the nonbeta release.

you should also implement an option to select multiple map to pack them into a mappack zip. that'd be great.
also it should show the number of polys / scenerys used and show a small overview of the map...
I like to have one Martini
Two at the very most
Three I'm under the table
Four I'm under the host
