Sniper rifle bink shouldn't carry on
« on: November 02, 2008, 10:57:50 pm »
You're using the sniper rifle+knife combo, you have dead on aim with the knife, and you're entering a server. Weeee. Fun. Oh no! You got binked after you missed with the Barrett! Let's go to knife! WOOSH. You miss by 10 feet.

The bink from weapons shouldn't carry onto your secondary. That's all I'm saying.

Yes it should. Imagine if you exploited it.

*Switches weapon twice
*"Yay i'm not binked"

That means extra precious seconds which you probably don't have. In which case, getting binked could mean that you've injured your arm somehow and when you switch to knife, you've got a bum elbow and can't throw properly.

Hey I reckon it's not a bad idea.
And yes, in chutem's scenario, by the time you switch weapon twice, you'd be a goner.

No, it could be exploited. One quick weapon switch, and bam, instantly, you have no bink. F11.

It's gotta be a little realastic even it is an "unrealastic" mod. I think I'm gonna go with F11

No, because realistically if you can't aim with a sniper rifle because you're being shot at, you can't aim with a knife.

That's like suggesting that you have a different amount of health for each weapon (secondary and primary). It's stupid.

Bink should carry, if you don't like it then don't get shot or use a different weapon.

I'm against this idea, but if you don't like getting binked there's always something else to have, not knife (e.g. SOCOM).

I haven't noticed this. Is the knife really affected by the bink?

Ummm I think we're a bit melodramatic about its exploitation. Its pretty impractical to be able to do so. The argument here seems to miss the fact the baz has a firing delay.

Youre attempting to shoot your baz but your getting pummeled.
Switch to knife. Baz bink is out the window.
Switch back to baz, and have to begin firing delay again. Impending pummeling.
Dead.

The point of the idea is, the bink should be per weapon and not accumulated. When you switch back to baz from knife, youre still able to be binked before you can shoot again, its just the bink value starts from 0 again.

^^Good point
So I still stick with my previous opinion - there shouldn't be much of an exploit problem

Any weapon can be.

For the thread, it helps with the balance and I see no true benefits in a change like this.

Think about it this way....then we'll have a bunch of people running around with two sniper rifles assuming the bink doesn't carry on >_>

Agreed, I'm not at all for this idea. I'm down with pretty much every argument that's been put up here, and it seems to me the general public is against it as well. However, feel free to add a poll, and let's see if the supporters have decided to just remain silent :)

I'd like to see the bink go to the background when you switch guns. AKA if you are binked and switch to knife and back quickly it acts as if you hadn't switched at all.

Other than that I do like the general idea, but I don't see how that problem could be avoided.

That's what I was thinking - it could have some kind of "memory" for bink. But this could prove to be complicated.
