Interface question.....again.
« on: December 02, 2008, 08:42:05 am »
is it a way to mod the text in the interface, because the default text in interface maker doesn't fit in my interface, i want to change it. i'm making a ultima online interface, and it's based on numbers.....so i would be really happy if that worked.

You can mod the text, but not just the interface text individually. Whatever you do to it will affect the text type of multiple other parts of the game, and I don't think there's any way around that short of writing your own text on the parts that stay the same and deleting the corresponding lines of text in default.ini. Problem is, the things you shouldn't static-mod (like ammo numbers and weapon names) will look out of place compared to what you changed. Unless you change it to look the same but not overlap.

...(Tell me if you need that decrypted)

Basically...the text you'd have to change to affects the interface also affects the text in quite a few other areas of the game. The only way to get around that would be to DRAW the letters ONTO the interface, but unless you made the letters similar to the rest of the text, they might look out of place.

PLUS even if you did draw the letters the way you wanted them, they wouldn't change. For example, you couldn't draw the weapon name. If the letters "Minigun" overlap your interface, you'll have to either change most of the text in the game at once, or live with i, because if you actually drew "Minigun" onto the interface, EVERYTHING would be called minigun, no matter what weapon you chose.
