I was going to let you guys in on a bunch of information to help you settle down, but Michal jumped in and did it for me.  I suppose I'll tell you anyway, so here's my giant compendium of CG information:

Excellent post, applauded

Makes me feel like trying out DeleD  :) which I will be-

And not to be too much off topic- I hope if reliable UDP works well in this project it will be implemented in Soldat.

Really looking forward, and sounds like its gonna be a great success

Soldat uses unreliable UDP whereas Michal seems to want to use reliable UDP, which has a system to detect missing packets.

More information that preceded that answer:
"...[There is] a system to detect missing packets. It's called reliable UDP messages. Soldat did have something like that in the very first versions, but it caused a lot of problems like packet multiplication and bandwidth problems. I didn't realyl have time to fix it so I dropped the idea and made the code based on unreliable packets. I don't know if it would be better to make Soldat with reliable packets. It might be more precise when it comes to hits but maybe it wouldn't be playable for large amounts of people playing on one server. I'm going to try reliable UDP completely in this new project, we'll se how it works."

And the reason he isn't using TCP is apparently because it isn't useful for games with more than two players.

If reliable UDP works out for CG, will Soldat gets it as well then?

I think that's the point of it, actually; it would take too long and be too tedious to unravel Soldat's code and reprogram its unreliable UDP packets into being the reliable type, especially considering that all of the files afterwards are based on unreliable packets. So he's testing reliable UDP right off the start in Crimson Glory, and even if it works well Soldat probably won't get it (at least, straight from MM), considering how long it would take.

Perhaps a team of programmers would be able to create a reliable-packets Soldat clone when its source-code's released :)

few questions about the game:

Q: will the planes be multicrewed? (more people on the aircraft than just a pilot)

Q: I guess there are going to be bases for team play so: are there going to be somekind of stat guns in the bases. and what kind of?

Q: will you be able to walk around in the zeppelin (switch places or jump out of it?)

Q: will the soldats have jet boots like in soldat?

Q: Are the 3D gfx made in 3D or are they 2D, but look like 3D?

Q: What kind of weapons will the soldats have?

Q: how big file size will be on this game? (approximately maybe?)

Q: is it going to be like soldat, multiplayer fun? (no singleplayer campain?)

Q: what scale will be the game? (soldat scale or bigger ingame?)

thats all for now.
btw, this might give some inspiration or ideas: http://ludocraft.oulu.fi/airbuccaneers/
its a mod for unreal tournament 2004.

//Q: will the planes be multicrewed? (more people on the aircraft than just a pilot)
I plan planes like that.

//Q: I guess there are going to be bases for team play so: are there going to be somekind of stat guns in the bases. and what kind of?
Probably AA guns. It depends on how it will play.

//Q: will you be able to walk around in the zeppelin (switch places or jump out of it?)
That would be cool, but it is difficult to see what is inside of the zeppelin. I would have to think of a view system (maybe make the zeppelin transparent when you are inside)

//Q: will the soldats have jet boots like in soldat?
I think there is no other way to smoothly run around the map. Also it's a cool thing: a squadron of flying soldiers against a plane. Never seen that before...

//Q: Are the 3D gfx made in 3D or are they 2D, but look like 3D?
They are 3D.

//Q: What kind of weapons will the soldats have?
Standard WW1 weaponry.

//Q: how big file size will be on this game? (approximately maybe?)
Right now it's 10MB. I think it will grow at least 3-5 times.

//Q: is it going to be like soldat, multiplayer fun? (no singleplayer campain?)
Yes.

//Q: what scale will be the game? (soldat scale or bigger ingame?)
I'm still thinking about that.

airbuccaneers? Looks cool, too bad I don't have unreal. Someone can mail it to me? :)

UnrealEd (Unreal Editor) comes with Unreal Tournament 2004, and the editor is meant to create levels but also modelling (which is crappy, I don't recommend) and scripting can be made in the editor. There's external compiler for unreal script among the Editor and I recommend to download some utilities to easy up your compiling, like WOTgreal.

UnrealEd uses its own scripting language, its similiar to C++ but different.
If you want to get UnrealEd u must buy UT2004 or download it illegally from internet. :P

PM me if u got some questions about it..

I only have one question: How many different styles of plane will be on one team at each time? (like how many different planes can a team choose, and are there different plane sets for each team?)

You registered on the forums to ask this? lol. Well welcome!:)
The plane will just fall apart and respawn at your base. It depends if you die. Your legs can break and then you go to the hospital and the game turns into a Theme Hospital clone.

Who cares about that, you got friggen PLANES and you want soldiers with the same weapons?!

EDIT: all you had to do was look up...

//Q: What kind of weapons will the soldats have?
Standard WW1 weaponry.

RE-EDIT: Oh yeah, and i'd still like to know whether each team (if any) will have their own planes (im starting a mod, so it'd help to know)
