Favorite Games (with a twist!) inb4 it's been done before
« on: December 12, 2008, 03:30:22 am »
Now, I know most of us like video games.  If you don't then I don't understand why you're browsing the forums of a video game.

Anywho.  I had a thought.  Soooooo many games that come out these days have killing in em.  I mean we really don't think about it, but almost every game has either killing or combat of some kind, violence, etc

So I was wondering:

What is your favorite non-killing/violence/shooting/omg blood/combat game?  Even simple violence like battletoads or something counts.

Probably the only 2 I can think of that I actually like are Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, and Project Torque

This might be interesting.

Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure and most of the other games Apogee distributed before 1995.

That's still combat technically!  Jumping on enemies to kill them (in a colourful fashion might I add), using bombs, etc...

Okay then, MS Solitaire and Pinball. (I'd mention Minesweeper, but that probably counts as violence ;))

Well what I mean is that the combat or violence is a major gameplay mechanic.  Like shooting an enemy or stomping a Goomba...  So I'm not so sure on that one

I'll call Bill Nye.

Sims 2

I didn't think it would be better than the original, but full 3d is really cool.

Stepmania, probably, though I recently discovered Audiosurf which is pretty darn awesome.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

Harvest Mooooooooooooon. That's about the only one I play that isn't violent in any way. They are lots of fun though. Otherwise, I get bored easily by sports and racing games (except Street games made by Big, they are ok I guess) RC Tycoon is ok, and I never caught on to the whole "sims" thing, but it is also ok.  But yeah its mostly Harvest Moon. Maybe if Animal Crossing had any point, but its too nothing.

For modern games, Mirror's Edge. For not-so-modern games, Katamari Damacy

Portal, Guitar Hero, The Incredible Machine, Rollar Coaster Tycoon, Monley Island, Beneath A Steel Sky (Assuming it can have violence as long as you're not the one partaking in it)

Cross racing championship (I forget which one it was ;D)

aaaaand Empires: Dawn of the modern world.  (well, let's just say its more strategy than killing, I mean it's just based on units overpowering each other exploiting strengths and weaknesses, and just so happens that these units are soldiers blowing/cutting each other apart)
