So you're saying simple violence counts, but Empires is fine because you have to think before you wipe out people en masse?

I think you're missing the ENTIRE FUCKING POINT here.

Does Civ 4 Ghandi count? I've won without firing a shot. And Brain Age is pretty good, I just suck at it.

For modern games, Mirror's Edge. For not-so-modern games, Katamari Damacy

I'm pretty sure that Mirror's Edge has fighting parts in it

But not only is it not necessary, the game actually rewards you for being nonviolent.

Excellent logic. Now I can tell my parents that Postal 2 isn't a violent game at all.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and sims 1..... although I guess those qualify violent games in my case because in RCT2 I love to launch people with a broken coaster at 200mph and watch them explode. Then drown people, then make them all feel awful and never let go out of the park and turn it into a prison.

And sims 1... brrr. Drowning in pool, getting killed by fire, starvation, fighting, cheats and so on...

Hmm... World of Goo.

EDIT: Portal is violent, cmon.
There are turrets that shoot you on sight, blood, a huge AI super computer that spreads deadly nerve gas and tries to incinerate you a short while before that. Oh and did I mention deadly energy orbs that vaporize the crap out of you?

Err... I was about to say Portal as one of my choices, because it isn't really the point to get shot by those turrets, bleed, die from the deadly neurotoxin, be incinerated or be vaporised. Still, good point.

I'd say Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan/Ouendan 2, those three games are quite fun. They'd be around the top of my list if combat/violent video games were included, as well.

ehm, well I think the point of the thread was non FPS type games that aren't based on violence, like the most of the mainstream shooters (Halo, GTA, Battlefield)

Well, isn't age of empires all about destroying enemy bases, which includes, you know, killing people?

Yyeaaahh....  If you knew it was violent, why bother mentioning it?

Yeah but it isn't the whole point of the game is what im getting at.

Like in Halo, it's your job to kill shit.  In RCT, it's your job to make a kickass device to make people lose their lunch and moneys

I remember Incredible Machine, that game rules.

I don't know if you can count Mirror's Edge because there are certain parts where you HAVE to fight to continue the game. There's also a part where you are required to kill a guy, albeit by using his momentum against himself.

Also, Burnout Paradise although I guess you could consider that vehicular violence.

Portal and the Sam & Max games also.

What is your favorite non-killing/violence/shooting/omg blood/combat game?

Forget about Resident Evil. :-\

I'm just going to say GT4. There are probably such games I enjoyed more, but I can't think of any right now.

Even simple violence like battletoads or something counts.
Probably the only 2 I can think of that I actually like are Roller Coaster Tycoon 2

In Roller coaster tycoon I kill people by making their roller coasters crash! And I drown them in the ponds! So it has violence in it!  8)

I'll go with Mother of all Battles, not too violent, and it's fun once you get used to it.

Check it out here. http://www.windowsgames.co.uk/mother.html
