Man you guys are dense.

You couldn't recognize a provocation even if it's written on a brick and slammed between your teeth.

Quote honestly: do you even read those threads? Or do you just hurry to the reply field? Even if you do read it - what does it tell you about the poster. Does it give you some sort of in-depth view of his character as a whole? Does it make him more interesting? Does it provide anything besides eating up forum space?

What is wrong with you people. I want to see threads that are rad, awesome or cool beyond imagination. I want to read about horrors, adventures or fucked up stuff. Stories about how you got drunk, sniffed speed from a prostitute's buttcheek, then got in group sex. Stories about your jerk neighbour and your revenge involving a 15 billion lumen, 250 mW LED light. The story about how you lost your toes, provided and backed up with pictures.

Shit 4chan memes are not funny. No body actually gives a crap about your favourite-whatever. And the reactions to this thread show the greatest problem of all - that you're like a woman's-only-problem club, completely flabbergasted as soon as a man dares step in. The nerve of him. The shock. The... GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT.

What is wrong with you people.

Maybe you are the problem, maybe it's time to move on to greater forests you're too much of a large fish in a small, small pond. Maybe you should pack up and leave if you don't like it instead of changing everyone else?

What the fuck do you expect from people? And how can you stand there and accuse everyone else of failing when you've done fucking nothing about it? Instead of bitching, how 'bout you contribute to fixing the fucking problem?

I dunno where it's from but this guy once had a quote "Whining doesn't do damage." And isn't that what YOU are doing?

So how about you don't blame everyone else and try to fucking make a difference?

I do agree with you, just not the way you're going about it, if you're going to bitch and moan then you're as bad as all of them.
Lol, internets.

There, that's more like it. Unleash the fucking fury mate!

I doubt I have to explain myself. I did a whole bunch of stuff, from maps to league adminstrating and launching projects destined to fail, only to be picked up later on. I came up with the T-shirt idea for MM. Helped out in soldat.radio. Made movies. Maps. The works. I've met up with Amblin, who lives like a thousand miles away. I got drunk with n00bface who came all through Yurop to see text_killer and me.

The high horse I sit on - it's because I know how this shit works. Complaining about stiff mods (rightfully, I might add) is not enough - you fellows have to loosen up quite a bit aswell. This is not whining - this is hammering. A blunt rage, because the Soldat community has it's great side, with awesome people, but if they move on, without a sufficient reinforcement, a just-as-awesome generation to come, then we could just aswell leave right now and the last one should pull the cord out of the server.

There are a handfull of people here who are alienated by the rest of the incrowd. Wraithlike, Mistercharles, Vij, El_Spec to name a few - it's not worth sharing a story if the audiance will just moan and nitpick.

Or in short: loosen up or I'll fucking beat you loose.

I don't quite understand how ANY of that improves the quality of the threads in the lounge...
Like at all... Sure, you improved the quality of soldat and other parts of the forums, but the rant you gave on the first pages was lounge specific. Since when did T-shirts have anything to do with the lounge?

All i'm saying is if you really want to improve the quality of the lounge, you could always take your own advice and start threads that aren't meaningless piles of balls.
Lol, internets.

You need some cooling time from the forums. Preferably a real life vacation. It'll do you good.

The lounge is the tip of the iceberg. The steaming pile of crap floating on the sea of the soldat community. The thing that measures the best the quality and general atmosphere of Soldat Forums. Check the survey topic: most people who posted don't play Soldat anymore, yet the votes had ~ 60% voting that they do play the game - they just don't post.

As for the T-Shirt project, it started out as a topic in the lounge, then others picked up on it, and grand_diablo organized everything in the end. bb_vb's logo was used for the front, and we'd scan our signatures and send it to dibo - he printed the shirt and mailed it to Michal's address.

Without a tight and good community, the lounge will still be crap, no matter how strict or un-strict the moderation is. I'm highlighting this because I am in no ways active enough, nor can I give any more effort to change this thing: the ball is up, and you fellows have to knock it down. Chew on that one.

demonic why do you bother :(

seriously it's not fucking worth your time man, or anybody who gets pissed off at this community in general. people are just too dense to understand. let them dwell in their 4chan memes, they'll grow up eventually

though considering that this kind of hammering around 2 years ago got me to change, people just don't react anymore! they answer back with more retardation which fuels anger further and just isn't worth the trouble imo

despite this i do completely agree but calling out idiots becomes less fun since they just don't fucking get it.

From what I can tell the three most significant communities within Soldat are the SCTFL forums, Fracs forums and lastly the Soldat Forums. And alot of what you said is true but ultimately inconsequential to the greater scheme of things. Now the way I see, the true problem doesn't lie in the intelligence of the posters but rather in the over use of moderation that seems to take place within this community. This forum seems to focus on the organization and control of it's visitors more then the game it was created for. It seems to me that you are searching for a more intellectual forum and the topics that the members of this community have been creating just aren't cutting it for you. Do you really expect anything more from a demographic that probably averages between 10 and 13 years old? Sorry to say it but the "lounge" isnt on the tip of anything Soldat related and i dont think glorifying this particualar forum as a crucial component to the success of Soldat is really going to make a difference. As others have said, you should probably just take a break or possibly find some other means of sparking your intellect.

ahahhaha fuck you aahahahhaha

dude FIXING THE PROBLEM isn't something one person can do man. yes he has the rignt to call out stupid fucks like you because you idiots now make up the majority of the forums, causing it to detioriorate further into the downward spiral. fuck "fixing the problem", it's something only the collective can do; they just need somebody to fucking drill it in their heads

read above point: you just need to hammer it, if they don't get it, it's their problem. just makes it better to make it fun of them after.

Your view is quite clear, albeit missing out on the AUS-soldat board - but they do tend to migrate towards SCTFL, whilst giving SF a handfull of users aswell. However, you missed my point - the lounge is only a tip at the Soldat Forums shitpile. I know the mainstream community is surviving fine and well, because at quakenet, there are a bunch of people who are ready to take the cross as the oldies leave. Gather didn't die with Suomip leaving, SCTFL recruits new admins to replace the old ones, and there will be people stepping to the role once ramirez stops paying for the servers. Hell, even the overpowered clan problem ceased to exist after EF split up, launching their former powerbase into new tough clans - that part of the community is alive, and will live as long as there is a game to play.

I know you from SCTFL forums, and my bet is that you come from the fracs area of this globe - thus I don't really expect you to understand my true beef with this board. Over-organizing and strictness is a fine point of argument, and Farah gave a good example: the lot of us got hammered into oblivion back in the day by other members, not moderators, until we started contributing something.

There'd be more things to be said just rising up from the post you made, but this reply is long enough already.

Well I actually do understand where you are coming from as a former administrator myself and I understand how frustrating it can be at times. Don't get me wrong, I agree with everything you said but I just think you need to pick your battles. Anyway that's just my opinion and you are probably accurate in the fact that I dont know a whole lot about what actually takes place within this community.

Demonic is right in urging us to loosen up. It does keep things more interesting, in my opinion, if only slightly.

However, I believe that ... well ... copypasta:

Code: [Select]
[15:42] <Kazuki> That's also a problem, I think.
[15:42] <Kazuki> Every portion of the Soldat community has its own container.
[15:43] <Kazuki> Whereas back in the day SF used to be the main location for everyone, there are now forums for EVERYTHING.
[15:43] <mar]> nah
[15:43] <Kazuki> Independent mapping forums, gather forums, modding forums, fracs, etc.
[15:43] <mar]> it's just
[15:43] <mar]> well
[15:43] <mar]> sf has some stuff left
[15:43] <mar]> like beta and mapping
[15:43] <mar]> and modding
[15:43] <mar]> the rest is balls
[15:46] <Kazuki> mar], I understand. All I'm saying is, wouldn't things be significantly more lively if all these other parts of the community were part of Soldat Forums?

who gives 2 s**ts about mapping/modding/beta?

The part of the community who still plays the frickin' game. To them, those are the only areas saving this place from getting nuked.
