Now that I've thought of it, one of the main things I like about these forums is how clean they are. On forums such as elitectf, the user profile section of a post is littered with little useless things like the stats for games in the arcade section of their forum, forum money and buddy list crap, and a bunch of other useless things that pretty much only exist to draw attention to the site which distracts from the content of the posts.

My new opinion is this: don't bring them back.

We also put a stupid hack into the old forums that let only administrators/mods change the custom titles and we don't have that hack anymore... so if we enabled them anyone would be able to change their title.

For the record, there's a permission setting in any rather recent version of SMF that would let you disallow regular members to modify their own custom title. In fact, I think it's off by default.

Off topic, but was that ever resolved? It happened long before I came to the forums, I just remember some picture explaining what it was all about.

I think I attained a custom title through the stolen waffles. The topic must still be around, I think the aswer was posted or something.
