Insurgency if you don't mind frustration and a long learning curve, you can download it free with HL2DM if you have a nvidia card. (Does that count as free?)
Also, Friendlyfire+Realism=FRUSTRATION. (try not to quit on the first day

Yeah it's a pretty fun game. If you have some spare cash, just get CS:S. (It's like 10 bucks.)

You just got a lot of karma from me. Wolfenstein: ET brings back memories of the goood days... Mmmmm cortex and base race were my favorite maps.

I started playing urbanterror just a few days ago, it's awesome and I'm almost hooked as I am to it as soldat

. So I personally recommend urbanterror. Might try that insurgency later on

Combat Arms - I play that still, but honestly, it's getting boring and stupid. And I hate that purchase system.

Combat Arms is garbage...in fact it's a rule of thumb that anything made by Nexon isn't worth your time.

For those who like it realistic: http://www.tcelite.net. Its based on Wolfenstein ET, the best mod i think. Warning: 1 shot=1 kill. You need much time to succeed in this game, i havent.

BTW: I've read there is a new free DOOM-Clone in Java (a good one). But the Link was deleted. Does anyone have a valid Link? I am looking for a good Browser FPS

I've tried playing Wolfenstein ET but each time I try to join a server, I've gotta wait like 5 minutes for all the "mods" to finish downloading and then find the server has no players in it. I just can't deal with that so I play Urbanterror or CS instead.

Seriously, best server ever, no big mods, periodic maplist changes, and doesn't take very long to d/l, just a few 100kb-or-so files and the map currently being played if you don't have it (most of them are only 10 MB or less).

Also, yes, the game does require a good internet connection to play.
