Manual Reload
« on: December 24, 2008, 01:17:44 pm »
For games with realistic mode, set up weapons for manual reload. That is generally it.

Um...meaning? Putting bullet per bullet into clip, then putting into gun?

As cool as that animation would be, I think that would be too much for some. I'm just referring to the reload function not being automatic once the clip is empty in realistic mode. There is a button for reload that you can set up as there always has been.

Along those lines it would be nice to have UT style mutators for more meta variety. Simple stuff alongside AdvancedMode and RealMode like, say, RegenHealth and the NoAutoreload like Decoy suggested.

Conversely, Soldat has always been a game where the players carve out their own metas. :J

So it can be made into a possible mod by my own means?

would be cool with no auto reload. I'd support it.

That would slow down Soldat's gameplay drastically, which is really against the spirit of the game.

I still don't get it, but I think that Soldat's way to reload it great enough. It even has the clip fallin' down. So cool.

the idea is to put a serverside option to turn off auto reload. by auto reload I mean, when a gun are out of ammo, it will automatically reload itself. so removing this would force the user to press reload, for the reload to start.

More options is usually a good idea to go with, but I can't see this option being used much if it were implemented, it would slow down game play and make people annoyed because they ran around without knowing their gun was empty.

It would slow down gameplay. So no.

If it's meant to support your other idea of the "suicide system", also no.

thing is it would get harder to reload, so a slight skill level on reload would happen. and I can't see how it could possebly slow soldat down more than 10-20ms. of course, this would server side, I would even mostlikly prefere auto reload.

It is as Major said chutem. Attentiveness to your weapon would need to be required as I usually keep to mine with any weapon. But then again my setting of a text interface gives me a better idea of what my ammunition is looking like as well as the remains of my life, grenades and armor. And this is separate from the Suicide system STM1993.

I reckon it MIGHT fix a few bugs on reloading if they weren't fixed yet.

But still I think an automatic reload is better. I also do not need to spend all my ammo before I reload, I can always reload before it goes to 0. I myself frequently check the ammo and would only reload if I think there is a need to, or for some guns like MP5 or Aug, I make it a point to ALWAYS reload whenever I am out of combat or have to chance to do so. Also, when I'm out of ammo, I would want my gun to be loaded as quickly as possible without a need for myself to press the reload to reload. Every millisecond is precious.

It could be interesting as an option, but I personally won't support this.

I think its a good feature, especially for the competitive scenario, but for the most part to the regular user it will be unused.

I think it could be quite funny, though I do not support it as a default option. should be something along the lines of Advanced Mode(like said above).

Also, poll added.

Thank you for the poll option. Was it available to me as a user or was it up to a moderator to do such? Either way I am grateful. And that idea of having it as a separate option sounds a lot better than a default option, catching too many off guard as is. So should I edit my first post to reflect that I agree or leave it be?

Hmm... if you wanna make a poll, you have to add it to an already existing thread. So what you do is make a thread, such as this, and after that you scroll all the way to the bottom, and there should be a clickable box saying "+ poll" or "add poll". Not in this one, naturally, since it already has a poll in it.

And yes, you should probably edit your first post, but don't delete the original content, just add something like "EDIT: This would have to be a checkbox option" or somtehing..
