I really prefer proper grammar on forums and the like; in chat rooms I have similar standards, but capitalization doesn't matter there for me.

I think my main example here is going to be PANZERCATWAGON.  His posts always have some pretty good content, but it takes effort for me to actually decide to read them, since they look awful.

I do care about the English, makes posts look neater and better. But as long as I can understand it's fine for me. Weird English (or stuff like 1337 speak) make things quite difficult sometimes (annoying if the post is long), but generally I'm okay. One of the only things I truly hate is stuff like having emoticons in the middle of words, mostly seen when speaking on IMs.

Eg: [retard] ed
Supposed to be Retard-ed

I voted "Yeah, somewhat" though.

Ultimately, the content is more important than how it is presented, but how it is presented can help you show your content better.

I really do care a lot about my grammar when writing in danish. After all, I'm studying to become a journalist, but with english it's kinda different. I'm not nearly good enough at english to be anything of a grammar nazi. ...but I try :)

I try to spell everything correctly at the very least. I figure that someone who spells several words wrong in a sentence is an idiot so I try not to be an idiot.

Capitalization isn't a huge one. The ones that get to me the most are people who always type in half sentences ending in ...

like so...

and then you probably know...

they're some poor as poo fatblob...

living in Australia...

And people who can't figure out which homonym to use. It's 'bear in mind' not 'bare in mind,' or even worse, I've seen 'bere in mind.' And get your 'you'res' and 'yours' and 'theirs' and 'they'res' right ffs!

It depends, really. When it comes to other people, I don't mind as long as the spelling is mostly correct and the grammar allows for easy reading. For example, n00bface and Panzer never really use proper punctuation and capitalization, but their posts are easy to read. On the other hand, there are people like AntiHero, whose posts are a huge pain to read.

When it comes to myself, however, it's a different story; I like my grammar to be near perfect, even as I'm typing in an IM or in IRC. I'll go out of my way to read my messages before I send them and correct them if necessary. I'm not sure why that is. In fact, I'm not sure why I even started doing it in the first place, but now I'm so accustomed to it that it feels rather blasphemous to not type the way that I do.

I don't have nothing against peoples poor vocabulary, and I don't mind the commas. But lack of punctuation makes it difficult, and random capitalization is just evil.

Hahah! I actually kinda enjoy British / Aussie terminology. It tends to make discussions much more interesting. If anyone remembers Aimee from New Zealand, I assume you know what I'm talking about. Chakra always had a very interesting way of words as well. Echo is in the same category, which is pretty cool, in my opinion. It just makes regular statements more interesting.

Nobody around here ever says "What are you stomping my cock for?" XD

You know what I REALLY find amusing though.  When people attempt in insult you in a chat line, calling you a moron or stupid, etc...  And they spell like a whole bunch of words wrong...  Then when you try to tell them about "irony", they start dissolving and dying in misery.  So much fun.

I really hate that though...  When people misspell "your" "you're".  Like...  srsly.  BASIC GRADE 2 SPELLING.

ahahahaha I knew you guys wouldn't get it. I hate explaining such things, but that was a link to a "joke" e-book parodying such campy self-help or get rich quick plans, INTENTIONALLY written entirely without any regard to the rules of spelling or grammar (again, to parody sloppily written and very obvious scams.) I figured it might catch the attention of some of the absolutely absurd grammar freaks you find on the internet, so you shouldn't remove my warn since I was trolling anyway.

"your".. i hate it when people shorten words down. I also insist on writing "brb" and stuff in full length, even ingame.
I don't mind things like "brb," but I hate it when people get their "their, they're, there"'s wrong.

Same...

Like if we all just stopped caring about spelling entirely, then people are just gonna say... "aw, it's fine" every single time...  It'll just keep going downhill till BAM.  Herpes.

I only use short forms to extremely long phrases like: "LAUGH OUT LOUD" or "BE RIGHT BACK". Those are also extremely common phrases, so I think the short forms are still okay. But things like "Your", no need to shorten it further (unless I'm typing with one hand).

"Your" and "You're" is a big difference, which can be annoying. =.=

I hate having to read IM acronym crap, poorly thought out sentences, and overall laziness in forum posts. I think these things are okay for IM and IRC, but not for when you actually have the time to type out a well thought out and constructive reply.

What I really HATE is the fact that when people say, "LOL", but they don't really mean it.

Well nowadays lol is just a generic response that goes with anything to make it less awkward.

"Uhhhh my gramps died last night"
"lol"

I can't believe I have to choose between "I like Meow Mix" and "Yeah, somewhat". This isn't the moral dilemmas thread. >:(

I don't care how others present their messages as long as its legible enough. If it begins to look like the person's cat just fell across the keyboard, then I just ignore them.

Sorry to bring up some abbreviated words, but what the hell does "ffs" mean? I see it many times in the game, and I never got to know....
