I don't believe that's how the M79 works though. It just sort of plops out. There's no rocket propulsion unlike in the M72

PFFT. Silly details and realism. Back in NES days guns shot massive glowing green and pink balls. Surely a shooter like Soldat could at least do with a thin smoke trail for an M79 round even if it doesn't quite make sense?

There's a difference between realism and characteristics. The weapons certainly don't need to be shackled by boring realism in order for you to feel like you're holding a [weapon name] in your hands. But they need to follow at least '80s Hollywood action movie logic:

* AKs are reliable and versatile, yet inaccurate
* Western world assault rifles are extremely accurate
* Shotguns deal phenomenal damage up close and can send people flying back
* Machine guns can be carried around by shirtless Austrians to mow down generic South American soldiers
* Miniguns can be carried around by robotic Austrians to mow down police cars
* Handguns never needs to be reloaded
* Grenade launchers lob explosive shells!

This isn't realism. It's just basic Hollywood knowledge.

Explosive shells = explosives = fire and smoke. Smoke trail just makes it more badass than a boring yellow one. By Hollywood logic you DO need to add more smoke and fire. Also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3aelRyKqIw&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Hmm. I could see it being added to an FPS though as a gameplay mechanic for revealing the gunner's position. This isn't a problem in Soldat though, especially not with bullet trails enabled.

Nevertheless, if enough people want this then we'll consider adding it then.

Well.. how about a more versatile solution: allow changing hard-coded trails like M79 and Grenade trails. This way there's just a bit more modding possibilities in general.
