favouvite secondary weapon
the Chainsaw!
(there is no such a topic, am i right?)

soo please tell what do you think about this awesome weapon ;)
btw i think the chainsaw is one of the greatest primary weapons and have awful potential power
(and a lot of spec tactics, especially in teamplay!)

Wrong. It's a secondary, and in fact its one of the weakest weapons in Soldat.

Read my weapons guide, link in my signature, for a simpler description.

The chainsaw is basically THE melee weapon.

Unlike fists or when slashing a knife(who slashes with a knife anyway? It's meant to be thrown), you are not restricted to attacking enemies only directly in front of you and following a slow attack animation. In fact, the chainsaw works more like a gun - you can point it at any direction and start sawing REALLY fast, though you need to "reload". It's one of the only few weapons that can really own an entire group of enemies without the use of a Berserker kit.

Contrary to the popular belief, the saw is both a 1-hitter and an automatic weapon (look at my weapon guide). The saw can't kill in one hit if it hits the leg, but because its slashes so fast (no one taps their saw, they'd hold it down all the way), it seems like it just kills in one hit, when in fact you're sawing the enemy multiple times at once.

Unfortunately, the saw, being a melee weapon, is difficult to use and a lot of skill is required. But also because of its short range, using a saw in competitive gameplay is as good as useles No matter how fast you are or how good you are at surprising foes, you'd either miss or have no time to draw your saw out.

Saw is only effective against other melee attackers or in less-skillful situations such as in public servers.

Don't double-post.

My opinion + facts are already stated in my above post.

Personally, I may use the saw every now and then (since I'm not a competitive player, I play for leisure). The saw is an incredibly fun weapon to use, it's really satisfying to rush in and saw someone. But if I were to play more seriously/competitively in ordinary games (I am a public gamer), I wouldn't use the saw. The fact that it is a melee weapon makes it unreliable, plus I am a rather slow player and I have a tendency to stay in the air where it can be difficult to build up speed or dodge. I'd rather use another Secondary to support my Primary weapon, such as a USSOCOM.

This is because you are playing in a public server, where the players aren't very skilled. If you were to play competitively in a Clan War or Gather, the saw is useless, and everyone would pick you out very easily. I am a public player, but I can tell you that very easily. If you do not believe me, ask the more experienced players around here who have played Gathers and Clan Wars, They'll agree with me.

Saw is useless unless you're versing bots or pub players - knife is a lot better (the best secondary - reliable and useful).

or in really, really small rooms, its useful when attacking a bunker with the doors having coliders, just hope the enemy hasnt a law ready, and make sure that a teammate boosts you a bit

Hope that the enemy doesn't carry a LAW, but not forgetting the M79, Nades, another Saw, even Spas-12 or Knife or Barrett. Worse yet if it's Rambo match and he's the Rambo (arrows can shoot through colliders).

What do I think about chainsaw? I'll tell you what.

It's pathetic and not too hard to use. You hold click, point, and run like an idiot. And to what avail? To have people with guns shoot you down because it's going to take you 5 minuts to reach them. There's barely any aim, and people using saws are probably the easiest to kill. There's about as much thrill in using a saw as there is in taking a dump.

I completely disagree that the saw is strong at all. Grab a knife and earn some skills with it if you want a weapong that's not only strong but also useful in more than one way. Knifers are generally regarded as possessing more skill than saw-users as well.

I agree with STM1993. If you're going to use a saw and expect it to be of good use then you best join a saw only server.

True, but I still see some people in gathers chainsawing, and they are quite good.  Not saying that the saw is the best secondery.

When you're facing a sawer all you pretty much have to do is keep your distance, pull out your M72 law and GG.  And yeah, saw only servers are good training for players who want to get good at sawing.

I was using the saw for a few months in gathers, and I saw(no pun here) that does work if you know how to use it right. You might want to use a boost and then fly to your enemy(or vice versa), but it can also be used as a non-damaging weapon. I've noticed that many people try to avoid the sawer(duh), thus slowing down or running away. So it can be helpful also in a non-damaging way. If you're facing only one enemy though, you might want to use the knife, unless you always fuck the throws up.

The saw is for fun. Period. Its (relatively) recent buff made it better, but its still just for fun. It is the most fun to use but the least useful.

and something more:
long blade, its the worst part of the saw, altrough its because of the ping & co. it makes the saw in 1v1 matches often unfair

*note: when attacking, the jump'n'prone, it is often useful, cause not many ppl know how to fight a good sawer

the saw is underpowered due to the high eating rate. if the fire interval was double as fast, it would probably be balanced.

but it's a serious 2ndary, as it is usefull at some certain times.

That's pretty true, + cases of Long Saw.

As for fireinterval, Chainsaw's PAST fireinterval was 4, now it's 2, and the cases of eating are greatly reduced. If we're going to make it twice as fast (fireinterval 1, which is the fastest possible) and still want the Saw to saw as long as it can now, it'd need 300 ammo, but the maximum ammo allowed in Soldat is 255.

So if there are such changes to the Saw, I'd imagine the ammo could be changed to 255 along with the fireinterval to 1, and in addition a reload that could be just 60-70 ticks.

Fortunately the Saw is not built like the Minigun. Otherwise, increasing the fireinterval would probably only make reg worse.

saw must have f.interval = 2. not more not less.
but i think lil delay(startup time) should be fine. maybe 5 or 8 idk

and trust me: the boogie-woogie chainsaw is NOT underpowered :)

How is the "boogie-woogie" Chainsaw not underpowered?

I feel that it is somewhat useless for competitive play (Eg. Scrims, Clan Wars etc..)

It's underpowered in competitive gameplay because competitive players are very aware and can take a sawer out very easily, even before he can reach him. Okay, maybe that's a little exaggerated, but it's really difficult for you to saw a competitive player unless the competition is a Saw competition.

Adding a delay makes the Chainsaw more than underpowered already. Probably one of the worst ways to "balance" the chainsaw.
