Just a note, that this is already fixed in 1.5.0(has been for some time), but was never backported to 1.4.2; I helped shoozza patch it by telling him how to easily fix it.

On Windows servers, when you load a map that a user might not have, for example, and the user disconnects and tries to download it, if the user is downloading when the server decides to load the map (usually some delay between the previous map and the loading of the next one), then the server will be unable to read it (I think due to something in the OS preventing it, idk) and will screw up (pretty much, nothing is loaded. All users load the map, but the server spawns everything in the center and with no polygons, you can shoot through the map).

I'm assuming that's what Shoozza fixed.

Does this patch have any useful effect on vanilla Linux servers not using any scripting?
There are other worlds than these

Well, it hasn't listed any other fixes, so I haven't bothered applying it to my Linux servers. Afaik, it doesn't affect Linux servers.

The patches have always affected the linux server; it fixes the cipher problems, and as of the newest version, fixes an exploit.

I was talking specifically about patch v1.0.1, assuming you had applied v1.0.0
