What kind of music do you listen to and why

We had lots of songs wise music threads and not many genre threads.. I'm bored so I guess I'll start one.

And give us some artists to watch out for.

I personally listen to Hip-Hop because unlike other music, it can be both lyrical oriented and beat oriented. Lyrics can range from money and women to politics, poverty, war and other social issues.
Plus sometime good MCs can put a modern twist to an old track, which is cool.(by the way, its called sampling)

Try MURS , asheru , Elzhi , cool calm pete, AZ, apathy for something new.

I LOVE trance...
Armin Van Buuren is awesome
The reason why I love trance is simple, it really lifts me up, and makes me energized, and into an euphoric state :)
And helps me forget about my dang life problems that makes me suicidal :P

Psychedelic rock, classic rock, hard rock, progressive rock, soft rock, alternative rock, punk rock, southern rock, metal, 80s dance pop, techno, new age.

Anything. I've even started listening to song from Pussy cat dolls and Leona Lewis. I s**t you not. If I find a song catchy, I try listening to it so much that I get sick of it.

Top number of play's though go to Underoath and Radiohead.

Mostly stuff from the 60s-80s if its rock. Not much from the 80s, only some of it. Most if not all of the stuff that has come out in the 90s-present is bad, and anything I like is isolated. By that I mean I might like one or two songs from a couple of bands, but never all of a bands stuff. Theres just something about classic rock, the new music doesn't quite have the same soul.

Metal (all the various rediculously named subgenres), Rock, Classic Rock, and everything that overlaps.

Oh, and why. Metal just kind of came on me, the intensity appealed to me and I find a lot of great musicianship in the genre.

Classic Rock, I can't ignore the classics like Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and The Beatles to name a few.

I'm usually about Rock or Metal, bgut over the past couple of years I have taken a shine to the electric scene. I'm not that much into trance, and I fucking hate techno, but house, dance and stuff is tip top by me.

I do like some rap though.. Dre, Eminem, most of the D12 gang, Pharrell Williams, some(!!!) snoop..

If it sounds good, I'd listen to it, but I'd never listen or like death metal.

I tend to like the more... sad/moody/slow kind of songs. Or just music alone, preferably from that of a Piano. I don't mind having those kind of choirs singing (in Latin or whatever), like those found in games (eg: Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, God of War 2), basically I like most game music.

Well i like allsorts of music, but i will point out my favourite genres for ya:

Classic Rok - 'specially Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, Rollin Stones, to name a few.

Hard Rock, Metal - Metallica (early stuff), System of a Down, Mudvayne, Trivium, KSE, Disturbed.

Reggae - 'specially the Kiwi bands, The Black Seeds, Katchafire, Kora.

The reason why i like this music, nd alot of other different types, is mainly cause of my family and friends.
I'd like to mention that i really dislike almost all of the new mainstream bands that are coming out nowadays :P

rock/rocknroll/bluesrock - black sabbath, the beatles, led zeppelin, pink floyd, the doors,misfits,zztop,bob dylan ramones
thrashmetal - boned by blood, exodus, the dying, kreator NIHILIST

just about anything that sounds good and skateable, not a fan of overhyped stuff and rap.(like motorhead, metallica, ac/dc,iron maiden etc..)
