making some cds. help :)
« on: January 19, 2009, 02:57:44 pm »
after sorting through some old junk i found my pretty old cd player. i didnt want to throw it out cause at the time it was a really really good stereo and the speakers are still top class.

so i want to get some decent music for it to play, but it hasnt got like a usb or anything so im gonna have to burn some cds for it.

i need three cds. one i want to be full of party hard tunes and feel good stuff. mainly sort of drum and bass or trance and stuff like that or anything if you think its good party music. you get the idea. then the second one i want to be full of sexy tunes and like barry white and sade and that kind of thing. real good stuff to set the mood you know. and for the last one im not really sure.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

ah fuck just suggest really good rock or classic rock, tunes like johnny b goode and stuff like that. the best tunes. uhm might put some jimi hendrix on there too. anyway this is the layout ye. so just suggest anything for any of the three cds, ill listen to it if i dont know it and if i like it or i think your suggestion is good enough ill put it on there, thanks in advance.

party tunes (these are examples)
1. ferry corsten - rock your body rock
2. beastie boys - intergalactic
3. guru josh project - infinity 2008
4. ...

in the mood
1. barry white - never, never gonna give you up
2. another level - freak me
3. boys 2 men - ill make love to you
4. ...

all time rock (no depressing shit)
1. ac/dc - back in black
2. jimi hendrix - purple haze
3. oasis - dont look back in anger
4. ...

im looking to soldat forums, with all you amazing wealth of music knowledge and wisdom to guide me with your superior taste :)

Ready to Flow [RMB remix] - Nikolai
Eternal [Pulser remix] - Jose Amnesia

Make the most of your CD's, you can comfortably fit around 120 mp3 files at 128 bit rate on a 700mb CD.

128 bit is pretty bad
as a general rule you should settle for 192Kbps CBR or V2(VBR). nobody uses APS(alt --preset standard) but that basically equates to V2 VBR mp3.

if you wanna check your music get Audio Identifier.

i'm a more hip-hop/prog rock/indie guy so i don't really have a playlist that would suit your needs though.

You can stick more songs on your CD if they are of shitty quality is what he said. Farah went on to blab some more crap about quality, pretending that it really matters to you ;)

Most of Highway to Hell and Back in Black will fit in one of those categories. If you like Aerosmith, Walk This Way and Back in the Saddle will probably fit pretty well in the third list. Thunderstruck (AC/DC) for all time rock also.

Nah, you can't upgrade unless you have the albums to burn from. The zoom analogy works.

technically you can increase it if you transcode from 128Kbps mp3 to 320Kbps but DO NOT DO THIS because you still lose quality.
though if you have any FLACS lying around, or for that manner any lossless format, you can transcode to 320Kbps CBR and have decent quality while reducing filesize.

No newer music? As if the whole industry died when John Lennon got shot?

Check some of these albums out (a minute of google or youtube diving should give you a good picture of them):

Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come
Atari Teenage Riot - 60 seconds wipe out / Delete yourself [this isn't userfriendly music]
65daysofstatic - RMXSCEE
Billy Talent - Billy Talent II [this IS userfriendly]
Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
Turbonegro - whatever from them works
Flobots - Fight with tools
Sonic Youth - try Rather Ripped
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - it can't get any folk-fantastic than this

also yeah my taste in music is a tad sick so don't worry if some of this stuff will be like 'what the FUCK'

Rock tracks:

AC/DC - Touch too much, Two's Up
Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Paranoid
Metallica - Hit The Lights, For Whom The Bell Tolls
Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak, Emerald
RATM - Pistol Grip Pump
ZZ Top - La Grange

Party Tracks:

dDub - Hesitate No
Salmonella Dub - Longtime

I could name more, but these are probably the best (in my opinion).

Normally I'd agree but when it comes to drum & bass and trance you are not going to hear any real difference between 128bit and full quality. There is no fidelity of instrument acoustics to maul. Plus the bulk of .mp3 out there is 128bit.

128kbit is fine for any music unless you're an insufferable audiophile.
