The Carpathian Mountains are a unique site to see: they have been the natural border of Hungary for over a thousand years, until the peace treaty of Trianon. Nevertheless, their beauty is astounding, and these mysterious mountains hold many myths and legends in their stones. Ctf_Karpat is basically a major tune-up of the default Laos layout. also i thought that the Carpathian Mountains are not such deserted place

I love the shading and scenery usage, but the texture is kinda freeky looking.

I was expecting gorgeous Wallachian castles and a broad, open space, but this is quite nice, as well. I do suggest to try to replicate the splendor in an open map, with a few turrets here and there.

really dig the map -> excellent shading and layout

but it hurts me to see it as a laos remake - it's lost the ruggedness and obscurity and asymmetry that completely defined laos ++ the added routes make the gameplay completely different from the distinction that held laos (at least to me).

so - the low down - > > awesome map, but not laos

It's not really a remake, I just took the base layout of Laos for the start.

And as for why it isn't stuffed with awesome eye candy... the last few months quality maps were defined by awesome looks, multitexture, gorgeus backgrounds. We've came far from aiming for gameplay, so this time around I used a very basic polygon placement method, basic shading, and didn't over use scenery so it doesn't get annoying when you play the map.

-And those are my favourite kinds of maps. The only reason i have only downloaded 4 maps in the last 5 months is because most maps you see have a little *too* much eye-candy, and look NOTHING like any maps which have been put into soldat.

Wowhee. Amazing texture! Ew, perfect symmetry.

But it makes waypointing it all the lazier, so I'm waypointing it whether you like it or not.

I love the layout(similiar to laos), but alas, I will always look at symetrical maps differently. I just prefer a different gameplay experience from each side of the map. The alt route is great, but I think hill in the middle will be bad for nadespamming. I would have preferred that spot to be flat. Other than the hill alt route and the map being a bit too big(I think it would have been better if it was more condensed), the map looks great and looks like it will play great.. 9.0 but since its symetrical in my book thats -1.

Finished waypointing (the bots are better than I thought; take 10 on a team and follow 'em at the beginning. They divide throughout the three paths mostly evenly... and conquer!)... but I'm on a different computer. You'll get it in roughly two hours.
