Soldat on PSN
« on: July 18, 2007, 02:51:50 pm »
Michal should really consider talking with Sony to get Soldat on the PSN (Playstation Network).

Maybe offer it for $4.99...Right now anyone with a PS3 is looking to buy anything from the PSN, due to lack of games right now (August is the beginning of the extremely good game releases), so imagine the sales of Soldat on the PS3/PSN.

There are a lot of arcade-style games on the PSN, so Soldat will fit right in, but Soldat is awesome..so I'm pretty sure a lot of people will like it and start playing it on a regular basis. Imagine PC vs PS3..the PS3 can be hooked up with a USB keyboard and mouse so PS3 users can feel like they're playing on the PC.

I don't know, just a thought and I think it'd be really cool. If Michal wants to, someone can start a petition or he can just talk to Sony straight up. :D

yeah, and the controls would be pretty good..either use a keyboard or use the sixaxis.

Left Analog Stick: Player movement (left and right)
Right Analog Stick: Shoot in that direction (it works great with blast factor, cash guns chaos, super stardust hd, and necleus)
R2: Jet
L1: Jump
R1: Throw Grenade
L2: Change weapons
L3 (left analog stick pushed down): Prone
R3 (right analog stick pushed down): Reload (or maybe even use the sixaxis motion sensing to reload)
Analog stick down: Crouch (can even be toggled?)
Select: Weapons Menu
Talk: D-Pad up
Team Talk: D-Pad right
Drop weapon: D-Pad down

easy. or they can just hook up a usb keyboard and play oldschool style.

i think it will be great, and with the playstation network being open...updates and mods can be done easy. and with the standard hard drive being 60 GB, makes it much better.

the graphics would be perfect, since it would be an "arcade game".

here's an arcade game from the PSN that kinda reminds me of Soldat: http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Games/Cash_Guns_Chaos_DLX

Actually, I enjoy this idea. I think it would boost the sales of Soldat quite a lot.

However, two problems.

One, the price. $5 won't cut it. It should be $15, like the real registration fee.

Or, Michal could stick with the shareware protection.

Another problem...the suggestion sticky. Sorry.
Don't say that you're Magic. Because you aren't, and I am.
All-around good with weapons that aren't long range, except in TW.
Now be careful out there, soldier.

hmm, how about $10?
most arcade games are $9.99

the ps1 classica are $4.99 and some remakes are $4.99

i think $9.99 sounds good.
i don't think people would actually buy it if it were more, since they'll be like "what the hell is soldat...." for $9.99 they'll be like "sure ok i'll try it"

of course, there would have to be a demo and then the real game.

this is how it works:

for blast factor there's a STARTER PACK (which is the demo), like 4 levels then it tells you to buy the game. then there's the whole game, then there's add-ons. like a multiplayer pack, and more levels.

what michal can do is first, get the STARTER PACK up, which would be offline only and like 1 online map. then there's the real game, which will have all maps but only deathmatch/team deathmatch. then he can release different add-ons like, capture the flag pack, all that.

the starter pack would be free (since it's the demo, so people can try it out, and i KNOW they'd like it.). then there would be the real game for $9.99, with deathmatch and team deathmatch only. then add-ons would be like $4.99 each (capture the flag, hold the flag, etc.) and then later on he can release more map packs, for like $4.99 each (but they'd have to have a couple maps and would have to be like 0%-1% glitchy, almost flawless).

michal would really get a lot of money. and the playstation community would get a good exclusive game.

if it's for anything, it would be 360 or wii, with wii it would be easier to shoot, and X360 is from microsoft, and MM wouldn't want to betray microsoft ;) (360 controls not good tho)

you can't really play a 2-D side scrolling action shooter with a controller...

WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN LOCKED YET?!
Can't think of anything original to put here...

It might work for the Wii controller

Well, every new system has a online thing, so they all would be suited for this. But since it will never happen, why are we still discussing this?

PS3 has the PlayStation Network (PSN).

and the PSN is more open that Xbox Live.

plus mostly all arcade games on Xbox Live ...are actually arcade games. lol.

on the PSN they're either old arcade games or totally new "arcade feel" games.

i really think michal should consider doing this, he could get a devkit from Sony and start working on porting it.

Soldat will not be ported to any console or other OS ever, or at least for a longer amount of time than any of you guys are interested in.
