Even though all these controversial stuff usually revolves around the same thing over and over again, I personally think it's nice and interesting, even healthy to continue to debate about these - it keeps people thinking and questioning, rather than strictly adhering to whatever they think is true. Perhaps from these debates we can get a better picture of the situation and let both parties understand each other or even discover new, common views. Nothing stays the same overtime. New stuff may be discovered, new events may happen to further fuel the debate.

In a debate, you are expected to be open to new ideas and to question the views of others. By participating or reading/posting in controversial threads, you fully agree that you are prepared to face lots of arguments that you may or may not like and you are ready to see the brutal truth that the world isn't as perfect as it seems. So if you are offended or for any reason do not wish to debate, do not continue to participate in these topics.

What is with you all trying to be deep and intellegent by making very controversial threads about life, religion, race, and evolution!? This is getting annoying, just because you say your opinion doesn't make you smart, no matter how much detail you put into it. It is just YOUR opinion and YOUR ideas.

'No matter how smart of an argument you put up, it can always be ignored.' Or as you phrased it: it's just YOUR opinion. The point of debates would be for all parties to gain something from it, to get to know something new, to broaden their horizon, whatever. Your approach equals putting your head in your ass.

Not to go flying off the hook, but most of them are similar, brought on by earlier posts and created threads. This is getting annoying, we come here to game and have fun, not to argue about what is the meaning of life, who is the best love doctor, and if those shoes really make her look fat.
Try coming up with topics that wont anger someone or question their entire religious background. Try to be nice and not attack someone's race or individualism. Please be kind, rewind, and leave the controversy out of this!

Fuck your political correctness. This is the internet, where thank god the abstract rules of society and consensual veils of forced kindness don't work. Feeling offended? Tough luck. Grow some balls and deal with it - or as Geo said, you have all your right to ignore those threads.

I do have a plan, maybe the admins could make a child-forum under The Lounge just for controversial topics like on Game Maker Games (GMG). This would make it so I wouldn't have to swim through topics like, "Christian God" or "Evolution or Creationism" just to get to a fun topic where I can relax and chat.
Yeah, I know this seems a little dramatic, but I was trying to build up to my suggestion, it is how I was taught in English 101.

Here's the plan for you - open up your own threads in the lounge where you can relax and chat. Simple, isn't it?

And to clarify things: these recent oh so serious discussions haven't really proved effective - we're just going back to the same old shit we've been a couple of months ago, with the same people raising the same points and Smegma coming in with his semantical weed-whacker at the end. Where's the fun in that?

Technically, yes. By warning him over 80%, I can stop him from posting. The warning decreases by 1% each day, so I can temporarily ban him for 20 days at max. Of course, I could continually warn him so that he's never allowed to post, but if we're going to do that, we may as well perma-ban his new account. Either way, I would need solid justification in order to do that.

In my opinion, most portions of the community contain "good" members as well as "bad" ones. But since I'm only basing my opinion on contingent theory, who knows how it could actually turn out?

yes but what i'm saying is that the bad outweighs the good on such a massive proportion, it'd be futile to even try to garner any sort of unity.

most of the good members fucked off when they realised what a shithole this place is on the whole, and really you cannot FIX people without at least trying to seperate the good from the bad in some way(a forum i go to did this, it was pretty damn successful too)
