Truth be told, I'm not content with my life at all.  I don't have much drive to do things, I'm nowhere near as strong of a Christian as I should be, I'm not in ideal shape, and I'm not as social as I'd like to be.

On the other hand, I do have a pretty good life.  I've got loving relatives, the ability to go to a great school, decent job prospects when I graduate, and some great friends.  Money isn't a problem for me, though I'm not loaded.  I'm reasonably smart, reasonably good looking, reasonably social, reasonably funny...I'm nowhere near being perfect, but honestly, there's not too much to complain about.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

I'm more like indifferent to how it's going. Nothing bothers me, nothing entertains me.

You can probably classify that under "good"

I'm not really content with my life, because I'm not really satisfied with my grade, and my parents give me so much pressure. Because my sister went to Yale, they want me to go somewhere as good as there....

But yeah right, who am I kidding, I can't even get B on a damned history....

Edit: In response to jrgp, you're one of the smarter people I know (at least in terms of computers). I'd suggest you go into a running start type program and see what happens. As long as you do well at whatever smaller college you go to, it's much easier to get into the better colleges when the time comes. Plus college classes > high school.

A lot of states tend not to have Running Start (high school transfer) programs though... another thing to be thankful for.

Yes I'm quite content. I love my family, we're all very close, and we tend not to worry about materialistic possesions(a BIG key to happiness). There's always just enough money to get by, but not that much left over to fight over.

The line where I would become unhappy is probably if my family got really pissed off at each other, and we hated each other. Or if I realize that my goal of owning a penguin can't become a reality anymore (It can still happen, damn it :))

i'm really content with my life.  i enjoy every day and i'm so eager to wake up each morning that i don't even need an alarm clock despite the alarming fact that i'm running on only 4-7 hours of sleep each night (yes, it's not a devastating lack of sleep, but still significant!)  not only that but i have a pretty exciting future to look forward and i feel i'm only grazing the outer layers of my potential hehehe.  i just got a realllllllllly nice scholarship for, yes, 16,000$ a year, and i am even a candidate for the john kent cook scholarship as well.  i also live alone again, i just made gold status with my favoritest airline, i have travel plans for every break through 2009, two attractive human girlfriends, a job that pays me for my superficiality, and i'm studying to enter into an exciting career that's said to be a good and profitable field to get into (for the next 8 years anyhoo)

No because I'm not good at anything.

I have nothing.

That's all well and good, but what happens when you get old?

You old dog you - I didn't know you were getting into oil and gas.

For the most part I'm content.  I've got a very similar situation, actually.  Uni has payed my way on an assistantship the whole time I've been in school, got a very open, bright future (mainly because I have no idea where I'm going yet - but many possibilities), and I've learned much, much more than I ever thought I would in grad school.  To boil it down to the fun stuff, I know know how to run an EPMA, and at least run samples on a TIMS (google if need be, or ask me).  These are machines I never thought I'd touch before I was 40.  Scholarships are sometimes trouble, but not a major problem.  Only travel plans I have booked are for research, and until I get the damn thesis writing done I'll be working for the university.  At least it's doing something I do well and enjoy.

And no, I'm not 40.  Give me one of your harem.

Conversely, I'll be stuck in a lab often.  I also got harshly cockblocked by both fate and a lame fratish-type arse last night.  So it's not all sunshine and farts over here.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

I actually figured out within the last few months that I have a very rare syndrome that not only has flipped my heart upside down, but it also leads to heart valve decay and eventual death, so my life expectancy isn't too far above 40 hehe.  Don't have to worry about getting old :)

yes, it is an intentional arrangement that happened unintentionally

[fancy talk about wanderlust]

This is my situation, but made slightly more complicated by the fact that I'm underage. If I were over 18, I'd be backpacking and enjoying the world right now, but there's a battalion of people who are ready to call the police whenever I leave the house by my lonesome.

I can wait a year or so, though. No bloody problem.

It's not a problem now, either. Even if they make a call, the police still have to find you and they can only do that when you're doing something noteworthy. If you decide that you have enough wits about you to explore the world then you probably don't, but there's nobody from here to the border that can stop a determined young man from finding his own way.

Just make sure you aren't being stupid and periodically let your folks know where you're going and that you're going there safely. And never tell them that you've been hitchhiking with convicts or addicts, that information tends to disagree with their peace.

And let us know before you go. There are several older members who've toured around with nothing but a backpack full of old clothes and wavering luck, myself included, and we've amassed more than enough advice to see you safely through the first legs of any trip.

Content? I doubt it.

Sure, I have the opportunity to live normally and be able to do some stuff I enjoy, that's enough for me. What's annoying me are some problems, but most of all is a family-related matter. It bugs me to no end. Don't ask me to elaborate.
