Too good compared to LAW however, but that is not due to delay in LAW. not IMO, LAW is a great weapon, and if you're good at fireinterval cooking you can eliminate the FI entirelyQuote from: Clawbug on February 13, 2009, 03:02:36 pmQuote from: ~Niko~ on February 04, 2009, 05:55:26 pmRun backwards while doing rabbit hopping or however it is called, and throw your knife. It will look like it goes x2 faster.Though, in reality, it goes just as fast as if you were standing still or running forward. I.e. knife speed isn't affected by player speed. If you're moving forward it increases range by something like 30%, echo explained that to us on his theories about the m79 and balancing itMoving increases knife range by something like 30 %? Just no way. Knife speed isn't affected by player movement speed at all. You can check this by running forwards/backwards and trowing the knife directly upwards. Try same with nades or M79.

Fine as it is. Too good compared to LAW however, but that is not due to delay in LAW.

The speed is only increased in the direction you're throwing. If you threw forward while going forward it adds up to 30% range, and if you're moving upwards fast enough it increases whatever amount.
As a LAWyer, I'd like to say that the knife isn't unbalanced, I get so many kills from the law, If you learn to be able to change as soon as you need to, the LAW will save your ass in almost any combat situation
so if you start bringing up an argument that relates how far a person can actually throw a knife compared to how far a grenade launcher fires an explosive charge, you will be ignored.
Or its just more fun to use, Socom is far more useful.
I still don't get why was the delay of the knife was shortened despite its popularity over other secondaries, a clear indication that it was indeed a superior weapon.
fix the knife spam glitch where you can sit over a pile of knives and throw em faster than a minigun shoots.
Knife needs more speed, not distance.
Quote fix the knife spam glitch where you can sit over a pile of knives and throw em faster than a minigun shoots. QuoteThat, or add a really cool animation where he picks them up Nah, once he has loads of a knives on a stack he can throw them very fast yes, but without any power nor speed.. so if it still kills you, you must be real dumb.. just walk back a few yards and there you go
That, or add a really cool animation where he picks them up
In real world physics yes, but soldat does not abide by most laws of physics. In a game, you can have different trajectories that vary by strength, in this case the power of the knife throw based on how long it's held down, and simply have the knife travel along the same trajectory FASTER. Point A to point B in fewer frames. It defies physics, but it's not implausible. I'm pretty positive when they added the delay to the knife throw, it lost some speed when it's not being thrown into the opposite direction, rather from a still position. Now that I think about it though, I don't think the soldat engine has that kind of flexibility.
