What do you mean by "war on soldat" ...
Meaning clan wars, gathers, etc.

HK-MP5, the best weapon. If close-range to opponents which you normally are in wars, it will instantly be an advantage to overpower your opponent. However, it depends on the skill of the player with the versatile weapon to use it. You could use any weapon in a war although its the skill that counts.

Despite using HK-MP5 it will also have its weaknesses of long range shooting. Try to stay close to your opponents and keep a safe distance when required. This will enable you to use your gun at most effective.
Hey guys, its the HK GOD.

I'd rather choose AUG becouse it's long distance and pretty strong weapon. Fast reload against much enemies is the best thing. And of course in rl life only one bullet may kill so miss shots with barret and then runing away isnt a good idea.

If you were referring to a real war. I would probably choose the minigun.  :P

and dont forget that in rl the minigun is static, so you cant move it, what makes you an excellent sitting duck

i would go for barret/socom, and then after killing an enemy taking his primary
i would hope his primary would be aug

I'd take Sniper and LAW. My behavior in soldat is to be a support man, so that'd be my choice. keep away from the fire and kill without be seen.

However, in real life the minigun is actually a bringer of gory death unlike its Soldat counterpart. It's usually mounted on helicopters. It weighs too much to actually lift, let alone while jumping 5 times your height, back flipping, and using jet boots.

Do soldiers in real life actually refer to their weapons as primaries and secondaries?

I use steyr/ak, mp5 (most of the time.. it's not my fault that people prefer picking small maps), spas and knife, because they're reliable and powerful.

Assuming this thread is about which weapon would be the most appropiate for fighting an actual war, I'd say you guys are all pissing in the wind. You can't just say "war" and choose this or that weapon to fight it. A warzone has to be broken into many different pieces, and each scene has to be considered to optimize your selections. Like is it urban, is it continental, is it in enclosed spaces, will we be fighting a larger force, how advanced will they be and will they have airsupport? If you're in, say, an urban area, chances are you'll have more luck with an auto or semi auto than with a barrett, and if you're gonna cleansweep a building, a smaller firearm like the HK MP5 would pre preferable over the minimi.

However, if I was presented with a situation in which I was sure to encounter enemy forces of unknown strength, and I had no knowledge of the environment or the scale of it, I would probably have to go for the Steyer AUG and a knife. The Steyer is an all round weapon, with decent firing speed, yet maintains an awesome accuracy, meaning it can well be used for hunting as well as fighting. And the knife is just practical.

The soldat environment doesn't compare to the real world echo... A preferable weapon for any war would most likely be any auto, a good weapon to start off with is the FN Minimi

Real War

Criteria -

Safety - Barrett with a pistol to back you up, camp and shoot.  Can also stop tanks.
Assault - Aug with pistol, I'd say.
Frag count - Sitting in the middle of the battlefield with a minigun set up.
Hero - Chainsaw... with a M79 to DERKADERKAMOHAMMEDJIHAD if necessary

yay! that was a perfect hit! :D

Well, I've pretty much explained my choice if it were a Soldat war. Now...

In a real war, I'd always equip myself with a pistol and a knife. Pistol as a backup, knife for handy situations. Chainsaw is a joke.

Depending on the type of stuff I'm assigned to, my main weapons (if I can only take the weapons available in Soldat):
1. XM214 Minigun
This is if I were riding a helicopter or something, or providing some serious cover fire. Just prop the gun up and use it and spray around.

2. FN Minimi
This is a light machine gun. I'd also use it if I'm providing cover fire, but in the situation whereby I won't be staying in one spot or riding a vehicle.

3. Barrett M82A1
Obviously, if I'm sniping some dudes or killing some drivers (of lightly-armored vehicles), I'd use the Barrett M82A1.

4. M79
It's a grenade launcher. Perhaps I'd use it as an alternative to throwing frag grenades.

5. Steyr Aug
This is a good assault rifle. No explanations needed.

6. M72 LAW
This is to take out tanks.

I wouldn't touch the Ruger. Ruger's a bolt-action hunting rifle, other guns would have done a better job.

Spas-12 is debatable. It's a shotgun, so it's good for close-quarters and breaking down doors, but I don't think it'd be very reliable for longer ranges. It can be fired semi-automatically rather than being pumped, so that's a step up.

MP5 and AK... well I think the Aug does a better job than them.

I agree, the Aug's scope makes it much so much more versatile. I'd like to use the Minimi, but my nerdy arms probably couldn't take the recoil if I used it as a heavy assult weapon as well as simply a static machinegun.

A Law would be a god-send if there were any tanks in the area, but I think I'd prefer the all-round practicality of a knife or pistol sidearm.

Straight up Barrett/Socom.

I've found that I get a huge amount of saw kills when using the barrett, since people like to come up close to the sniper and don't think about the saw (modded to a lightsaber complete with sounds :P) that I have as a secondary weapon.
