Because the sound track is copyrighted and someone just uploaded it without any permission from the record label which is _illegal_.

Simple as that. Good idea too, it completely nullifies the video.

It's just a matter of time until all music videos face this same fate...once that happens you'll have to try youtube clones like Bolt.

No, it's for all youtube videos that involve the music that's being played. Seriously.

I'm not really sure but you could download the video's flash flv file and see if it still contains audio and play it with vlc. This gives you the benifit of having the video on your computer and maybe also having the sound with it. Use this site since it works well with a bunch of video sites.

Pfft, I think that's the stupidest thing ever to do. Give others the chance to at least even hear the song and if they like it, they'd even try to buy it. Now they don't even know what's this song like and must buy before realizing it's a piece of crap.

If you think about recording, recording the sound will NEVER be as good as the original.

The industry doesn't see people who listen to a song on youtube as a potential customer, even though AFAIK statistics show that people who pirate etc tend to buy at least, if not more movies / Cd's than people who don't.
Its considered lost revenue in theire eyes I guess..

I think its a good solution with regard to youtube/google being sued etc, however I think the record companies are pretty stupid to not allow people to advertise theire music.

About the downloading the flv, there is no sound on it :P

MySpace, anyone? If you want to listen to the band before you decide whether or not to buy the record, it's the place for you.

Yes, this is a point that the recording industry has NEVER understood.  They've got their heads so far up their asses that they wouldn't recognize a good idea if it was sitting right in front of them

A lot of people hate myspace for a variety of reasons: too many morons have complete control of their page and have a dozen youtube rapper music videos start playing all at once, and that's before it has to download a 3MB high res jpeg for the background and dozens of css hacks that tie the page together. That, and the myspace music player sucks.

You see, in MySpace, "omg omg ur cool rate my pix", passes for wit. And that is reason enough to avoid the shit site altogether.

Then its just going to be people doing lousy covers of the song and the ones artists put up for publicity.
