In an attempt not to sound like a QQing noob:
« on: February 16, 2009, 10:06:45 am »
The realistic mode Ruger needs a nerfing. Once you've learned to 'point and click' you're pretty much safe aslong as you sit somewhere hard to access. This makes it near on impossible to kill a camping Ruger user with any close range weapons, especially the Spas-12 or MP5. By the time anyone with a Spas or MP5 is close enough to do any damage their body is often missing the head.

My sig was 300 x 120, the maximum size is 300 x 125. Check next time will you.

Head is such a small target though.

Also if ruger loses that, it has nothing.

EDIT:

And Um...I don't think most people know what QQ is.

True, but maybe if the rate of fire could be slowed a little it would even it out.

Ruger needs a nerf in fireinterval, but the beta testers has yet failed to notice this, both in realistic and normal/regular mode

I'll try messing around with both of the weapons.ini and post my results here lol.

I've made some changes to the Ruger in h4x.ini.

Damage - 4
Fire rate + 5
Movement acc + 1

It depends.

I would agree that the Ruger in realistic is overpowered, yet at the same time it's slow enough that if you were to miss, you're pretty much screwed if your opponent were fast. My idea is that it should still be able to kill in one headshot, but it shouldn't do as much damage to the torso or legs. Its firing rate may be a little bit fast. Bink should be removed. Movementacc will NOT affect the Ruger unless you put it in ridiculous values, which is not practical at all.

An alternative to the realistic balance - since its firepower is high enough and its firing speed is already so low, why not make it reload slower and have 1 less ammo? That works, since ammo has been a really big issue for the Ruger.

A third alternative is to increase the power of the other weapons in realistic rather than modify that of the Ruger.

im for the 2nd one, cause it makes the best balance, but it could use some more tweaking

btw. should we make an irc chanel for weaponbalance, cause it would be good to manage servers with test balance?

the ruger is in realistic a bit op, but there is no way to camp with ruger, but it might be just the trenchwars maps that manage to balance the ruger (lots of coliders, bad for bullets that have a small arch)

Yeah, the irc sounds like a good idea.

Admittedly, it does take some skill / practice to be good with the Ruger, but not enough practice / skill if you ask me. That is however purely my opinion.

I concur with your opinion though - the Ruger is a very easy weapon to use, whether in normal or realistic. The ruger's advantages in Realistic are extreme firepower (even to the extent of killing in one hit) and great accuracy/range. The only things that are stopping the Ruger are:

1. Speed (which is pretty slow)
2. Ammo (it can't shoot for long and must reload)
3. Recoil (which won't be a problem if you've mastered the recoil and your aiming)

I find that in Realistic, the Ruger is pretty much okay in terms of combat effectiveness (which is also debatably, overpowered), but I feel that it's weakness on ammo is not stressed enough. You can easily kill 4 people in a bit more than 200 ticks (fireinterval 50 ticks) and you can fully reload in just 150 ticks, which is considered decently fast.

I find that the Spas is also so much weaker compared to the Ruger too.

and now that you mention the spaz, if you manage to hold your aim mostly static, the ruger is a one kill as spas, but it isnt effective if there are more than 2 enemies, whilst spas could fight with ~3 enemies

If 2 or more people attack a Ruger user, he may be screwed if he tries to Ruger them both, but if he was to Ruger one and nade the other he'd be fine.

Damage=220
FireInterval=50
Ammo=4
ReloadTime=100
Speed=330
BulletStyle=1
StartUpTime=0
Bink=10
MovementAcc=3
Recoil=54

10 bink is nothing to the Ruger. Are you referring to the recoil?
