Gravity middle-point at realistic mode
« on: February 17, 2009, 09:01:02 am »
I thought of a gravity point,

All players will 'fly' there. Sure, polygons will stop them before ^^

Lol it would be a fun script though.

I have no fucking clue, but if you want no gravity bullshit, I don't think it's possible.

You can always make a map that contains teeny tiny land for flag+base, and rest of the map to fly around with HUGE amount of jet. :P

F11...

1) Soldat is 2D not a sphere like a planet, so have a centrally located point to draw things to it, would be completely useless
2) It is useless...and would be a waste of coding time that could be used for things that are helpful/beneficial to the actual gameplay
And as the lyrics go in the United State's national anthem: "America, f**k YEAH!".

... But we're out side, not inside... In soldat, people will just fall off the edge...

Am I really the only one besides Espadon who understands what this guy is talking about? It's not that complicated conceptually. Gravity towards points, not down. Zero gravitation in the down direction, while all objects are instead accelerated towards preset points according to the inverse square law.

Yes obviously the scale would be unrealistic, but could make for some very interesting gameplay IMO. Implementation could be difficult, I know nothing about game coding though.

Dammit, beat me to it. While I'm not in love with the idea, part of me is curious to try it out. It would open up a world of spacelike maps.

If it's any consolation, the downward gravity can be changed in 1.5 . It'd be interesting to be able to change the gravity along the y and x axis, but for now I'd say the y is fine.

I envision strings of 'asteroids,' with loads of jet and really fuxed up aiming. 8)

Hmmm, I sort of understand what this Gravity middle point thing is now. Although I don't think it would look good. Like all the players are sucked sort of like a blackhole kind of thing? What would the point of this be? Sounds to me kind of useless...explain more deeply please.

well... if you did a round map, it would be the same thing as if it was a plane. except the vision would be diffrent. this could make some fun game play, but it would certainly not be worth it.

i think the maps would then needed to get a new format (to place the gravity placeholder)
which we dont want
