Pokemon was good, untill I realized how corny and cheesy it was. I can eat nachos off of it.

Too many "You can do it!", "Believe in yourself!", "All you have to do is try!" type of motivational speeches. And god, couldnt they get better voice actors? Theyre probably getting paid with fairy dust and dreams.

The game was always better than the show.

The game was always better than the show.

Never! The games are really innovative design-wise for an RPG-type game, but the battles are tedious and simplistic. Leveling up Pokemon is just work with no real skills required; just sit at the trough, press the button, and watch the numbers grow as with most RPGs.

The show is great. Sure, it got old fast since the show is as recycled as the games are, but it still remains entertaining. The shake-up with May and Ash being the more experienced trainer took way too long to come in though, and I don't even bother to watch it anymore.

Pokemon movies, on the other hand, rank as some of the absolute worst movies I've seen, with the first movie being the worst. I was completely blindsided by how terrible it was.

I still enjoy the Japanese culture and some of the reading material, but the shows are all the same, screamy, and not to mention repetetive.

You see, this is what I hate..people talking about the whole genre and blowing things out of proportion.

Many are the same, but it takes time to find the good ones.

I support this view. I have found that around 80% of anime's that I take the time out to watch and see if it's any good, usually suck. But when you stick with wading through all the poorly translated and horribly scripted anime's you can find some that really shine with brilliance.

I almost gave up on anime a few years back until I saw films like Metropolis and Akira, they really gave me confidence that there really is good english dubbed anime out there.

If anyone is looking for examples of top notch anime, both these films are essential.

I used to love Outlaw Star, that was a really cool anime even though they cut out the blood in the english version. They stopped showing it on TV and I never saw the final episode . I still want to see it.
