i rekon when it bounces off polus it should burn yourself...like if you flame below you, it rebounds and flames yourself, that should still burn you lol..
It could be done in the realastic mode, but I don't think it's that neccessary...

The trick with the flamer is to get the other guy to stand still. :D

This only works on pubs with noobs but if you stand still yourself, theyll stand right next to you and spray/m79/barret-to-the-face. Then you can own them with the most useless weapon in the game. :D

Noobs cant resist the tempation of afks. ;D

Instead of making each particle 'bounce' off polys, make them 'stick' until the particle dies off. This way you can set an area on fire, inflicting damage on other person touching the poly. Perhaps then, when the fire particles motion becomes static,  some better reg would occur ?

I think that would cause huge lag, but its a good idea if it didnt.

Hmm I dont play pubs, because I dont like to see noobs saying "look he is called IKEA xD" ... ::)
That´s probably because my nick in game is [-IKEA-] DarkCrusade , but it is really awfull to kill them with fists ;D

God, I fucking HATE noobs ;D

I love to hear stories, but let's get back on the topic you two.

I am wondering, do you guys prefer the Flame Thrower to have ammo? Or heat up like M2/Flame thrower in CoD:WaW?

Heat up sounds more fair to me, and because of that handicap; make it stronger.

I prefer the Flamer with ammo, like the way it is. Simple reason, the reload is uber fast. But overheating? What the heck? That'd screw up the Flamer.

The problem with the Flamer now is its reg.

Thats why Im suggesting that the flame particles 'stick' to polys instead of bouncing off them. When you set fire to an area, it effectively becomes a temporary lava poly. Players will find themselves walled by fire, and will more likely be set on fire..

Detecting collisions with 2 moving bodies can be problematic when networking becomes a variable. Detecting a collision with 1 moving body with 1 static body is less problematic.

One flaw though: if a Soldaten doesn't even touch the poly, then the Flamer can do nothing.

He doesnt ahve to touch the poly, just the flame particles that are 'stuck' to the poly.
You can still spray the flames at the person and hope for the best, but the idea is to funnel them into an area thats condensed with flame so that they cant escape.

I discovered something interesting about the Flamer.

Try changing the bullet style of the Flamer to that of a cluster grenade. It would explode in mid-air after travelling a certain distance, just like in a M2 Stat Gun's bullets.
