Sexist, or true?
«

Read this tonight - thought it was interesting:
http://theproblemwithwomentoday-reality2008.blogspot.com/
I've got a little background knowledge called experience (although not so much of it) that tells me this article is both biased, and true to certain degrees. My own mother? She works hard as hell at what she does for a living, but other people I've seen? It goes both ways.

It's true.
Not a very well-organized page, but true nonetheless.

Assume your talking American women?
I don't think he problem is with women but society as a whole. Kill them all and start again if you ask me.

It's sexist, stereotypical, and offensive.
And completely not true.

goes both ways imo, I do believe in equal rights in a situation where both sides play their part. Perhaps women aren't fit to do so, and the bible even says men are better teachers (perhaps it's suggesting a dominant gender)
Judging purely on typical teenage behavior however, equal rights are a joke..

Opposite genders are very different, but they are ultimately equal. They have their parts to play, and cannot exist without each other (really). Admit it, no matter how you try to demand that "equality", you're still as woman as you are and will behave as such - it's like denying your own nature. Therefore, I find it incredibly stupid for "women rights" stuff to go on. In modern developed societies, they actually have enough rights and equality. They can choose to do some stuff which guys are supposedly "meant to do", just that they don't want to.
For that site, I've browsed through it so far (haven't gone in depth), so I won't give a very thorough feedback for this post. I'm not a person who has been to the USA, so I cannot say whether this site is true about American women.
However, if you tell me about women in other societies, I don't think the women are as crappy as described even though there are some things that are true, therefore I say that the site is heavily biased if it is directed to the women in the world (but obviously, it targets the American women).
On the other hand, until now, there are still some societies that REALLY do treat women like crap even when they aren't behaving like what the site describes - can't even go to school, get aborted/abandoned the minute their discovered to be girls during pregnancy/after birth, seeing them as nothing more than baby machines, the girls paying the dowry rather than the guys (and the girls don't work, they are forced to stay home, no joke). Now that's inequality.
Even if all these is true - remember there are always exceptions.
Coming down to religion, in Christianity at least, women are considered lower than men - God first made Adam, then removed one of Adam's ribs and made Eve, as Adam's helper. Women were sometimes called "the daughters of men". When you think about the temptation, Eve was actually the first one to be tempted by the serpent and then tempted Adam down the same path, further lowering the position of women. However, if you think about it, women have an equal chance of entering heaven compared to men - all you need is to have faith in God, so in a way, men and women are pretty much equal.
Furthermore, men and women have their own advantages and disadvantages:
Man vs Woman:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_differences
Men are more aggressive
Men are more prone to taking risks
Men prefer to think (therefore more rational), while women prefer to feel (therefore more emotional).
Girls are generally better at language (see Neurology)
Although I believe that it is unfair for women to be unable to have a say in the church, I would agree that sometimes it is better for the men to do certain jobs compared to women.

My dad started pointing out to me on the amount of "Meanwhile, men are portrayed as idiot losers and fools every five seconds in our culture and the media. (This is the only way women can feel good about themselves because women today do not have any positive role models)." commercials ever since I was a kid.

Sexist, clearly, look at the URL.
Someone could make a page just like that about men.
edit: and fix your damned poll. The subject of the thread "Sexist or True?" and your poll options are "yes or no" which is... ridiculous. I don't know which one to click since I don't see a clear way to associate one with "yes" and one with "no"

^ I think what he meant by "Yes" is sexist and therefore unreliable, "No" is not sexist and is true, "Both ways" meaning it contains both facts and exaggerations.

^ Wow... his other blog posts are extremely sexist.
There are a couple of facts here and there, but he treats it as though every single woman is like that.

1. Take the message as it stands, there's no need to get out our crystal balls and divine meaning from the URL or hunt through other blog posts.
2. In Christianity, women are not made inferior by their secondary role in the Genesis account STM mentioned. While women have secondary roles to men in many situations, it is also true that men are secondary to women in other concerns. I'm using the word "secondary" kind of loosely. While men have authority over women, they are still equal in dignity and the moral law applies equally to them both. I agree with everything you said except the bit about Christianity in the middle.
3. @Dascoo: another bit of evidence feminism is out of control in this country
4. I didn't vote because the options weren't clearly labeled, yes it looks like "yes" means sexist but I need some clarification first.
5. @iDante: There's plenty of "before/after" pictures showing what the feminist movement has actually purchased for women along with the franchise and related rights they do deserve. They didn't just make up the dichotomy here; don't you agree that there have been horrible side-effects of feminism?

It's sexist and stereotypical but not untrue of some women. But men can also be this way, yet it is found acceptable because men have always had more social freedom.
From an anthropology standpoint women and men evolved to serve different social roles as a pair. Men hunted and worked. Women gave birth and raised children. So it is seen classically as being more irresponsible of women to act out of their role.

Oooookkkaaaayyyyy.....
Clearly,
someone
got rejected on prom night (blogger). For that matter, never went on a
date
.
I think it's kinda pathetic that someone can find the time (and
motivation
) to to publish utter garbage like that.
One finer point that I object to is his comparison of Germans hating Jews for their problems to women hating men for their problems. Women kinda have a valid point there. I mean, we sorta stepped on them for the past, oh-I-don't-know,
10,000 years
. Even the caveman would see himself and fellow cavemen as being above cavewomen (there are pictures on walls to prove it.
).
So, yeah, that is sexist. Accordingly, the definition of "sexist" is:
Discrimination based upon gender; usually considered to be discrimination against all women in general.
And he kinda did say that all women are equal to a crap-encrusted bathroom. I don't know whether to despise that guy, or just pity him. Thank GOD I'm not like
that
.

I love how you always have to turn everything into a personal issue, declaring how
you're
not like that ooooh so speshul
If you keep imagining the world is against you, someday you'll find the world against you
4realz.
This isn't exactly on topic about the original article but since we're touching on the issue...
You can't deny from a physiological perspective, the definition of gender means there's a different between man and woman. They have two different functions. To fill those, oftentimes you can see different psyches. These days the gender issue is too often confused with providing equal
opportunities
to both sexes. As long as you can provide the same opportunity, then selection based on gender may be appropriate: an analogy would be "Can you say that it's wrongfully discrimination if you choose a smart person over a mentally challenged person to fill a supervising position?"
Feminism is also sexism. Is it right that they can have 'reverse sexism' as compensation? I think not, because all it does is exacerbate the issue, similar to the perpetual chain of revenge attacks between Middle East people. Feminism advocates rights for the sake of
rights,
not for
what is right.
Rights
falls into "what is right," but once you lose sight of the real reason behind
rights
, then the issue becomes perverted into power grabs instead.
