Do you have Gimp or Photoshop?

Just get one of the backgroundcolors and press erase and go on this way and it will be transparent :)

You might want to rethink that statement.  It depends on the occasion.

And anyway, an avatar is supposed to either impress, or portray to a community of forumers a little bit of who you are.  Thus the opinions would then be "1st range," or however you want to put it.
