hit in the air with a M79

Keep practicing and you'll be a demon of the skies. Yes, the Soldat weapons can be used both in air and on the ground. It's so fun when you're under a guy flying up to him and you throw a grenade at him and he blows up and flies high. That's one of the reasons why I'm a Grenade Juggler.

i also killed someone in the sky with a grenade
i throw it and it hit him right in the face, lol

i like chain gun, fly in the sky and shoot below with it

M79 is a fun weapon to fool around with and improve your aim.  I find if I get good with m79, I do alot better with desert eagles too.  Maybe it has something to do with the curve.  I don't know.  Hope you get good with it.  Keep practicing.
Oh, and be sure to crouch when firing the law.

I'm an avid M79er myself. I don't understand people who kamikaze. That's just retarded. More time being dead means less time playing the game. I always keep my distance (when I can help it) and let my bullet arcs do the work. As a secondary I use the Law, it's great on maps that have a really long horizontal plane that you know people use a lot, but sometimes I also get crazy and use it in close quarters, that always shakes people up when they explode.

Personally I'm trying to practice with other weapons, but I'm finding it difficult. I know it'll be worth it in the end so I'll keep trying. I'm avoiding the Barret on purpose though, I'm no good at sniping (maybe in the future but not now).

First, you get down on the ground.

Second, you crouch or prone (hold down 'S' OR click 'X')

Third, whilst in that position, you hold down the shoot button (you'd hear a 'chuck' sound).

After holding down for about 21 ticks (almost half a second), a rocket will be shot.



The M79's actually a good gun. It's an explosive-firing weapon, which means it kills in one-hit against any opponent (unless they have picked up a Flame God box, which gives 10 second invincibility). The projectile travels slowly and therefore curves a lot, allowing you to make angled shots over odd terrain. If you're very good, you can ricochet your shots from the ground.

Take advantage of the M79's explosive power to push your enemies back or push yourself to gain great speed to travel over long distances (M79 boosting). Something worthy to take note of: You can shoot at a frag grenade (the green one that's being thrown) with your M79 and when the projectiles collide with each other, both of them will explode violently. This is very useful when you're dealing with people throwing grenades, or to detonate the grenades prematurely or to create an even stronger M79 boost.

I like the M79 for what it is, all the little tricks you can do with it. It just annoys me when people start complaining. Someone even started a vote to kick me just because I killed them multiple times in a match. Thankfully there were more F11s than F12s though.

The fact is, the M79 is a pretty skillful weapon, it's just how people use it. The reason why people tend to kick M79ers is because getting killed by a M79 is somewhat annoying (especially if the whole server is filled with M79ers), and there are some people who actively use "noob tactics" with the M79, such as the Kamikaze (ie: Running right into someone's face, then shoot).

The M79 opposes the general tactic of rushing - you'd have to take advantage of the M79's short-mid range, relatively slow projectile and slow reload (3 seconds) to beat the M79. The best counter to the M79 is to play defensively (avoiding him) while dealing a lot of damage simultaneously.

Alternatively, you wait for the M79er to shoot, then you rush him whilst he reloads, but be warned when you use such a method: The general M79er would often retaliate by throwing a knife or grenades at you, draw out his Socom or fire his LAW (if he's on the ground).

If the M79er does not switch weapons, you must also make sure that you are able to defeat the M79er within 3 seconds, otherwise he'd be able to shoot you again and you'd probably be as good as dead if you're too close.

Show some mercy on them 93, they're new...

Wouldn't work mate, they'd blow your face off before you get close.  Next to spas, M79 is one of the better saw counters because you can practically wait until they're in point blank definite hit range
Chainsaw doesn't go that well with M79 because experienced people would back away from you once they see that brown tube you're holding
I'd go for any of the other three -
LAW for long range kills (M79 has very limited range)
Knife for its awesomeness
SOCOM so that you always have a pretty reliable backup that you won't lose (or have to reload for a century)

When I first started playing I used SOCOM for my secondary. It was great, but as I developed more I settled on using the LAW. I suck at knife-throwing and I care little for practicing it. As for saw.... when it comes to me using it, it's only for messing around.
