Back in my school days I was taught about the crusades, the Europeans wiping their asses with our resources (That's the middle east, for you), and getting their asses kicked out after 5-30 years.

For the war industry, perhaps...
Hundreds of firearms, grenades, rockets, bomb shells...etc. and dozens of jeeps, trucks, tanks, and planes leaving factories from all over Europe, then getting shipped to the battlefield, which was usually more of a massacre site than a battlefield, since more civilians were killed than actual "rebels".
The largest sums of blood money ever made, if you're asking me.

For signatures, you are allowed only one image in your signature which may not be wider and taller than 300 and 125 pixels, and may not be over 20kB in file size. No BMPs are allowed.
