@Loner: No, it's really not :P  It was just a course required in my Product Design major.  /shrug

Oh s**t!
What? WHAT? :O

So I started practicing with using different saturation for shadows and highlights. Espadon's hints and this tutorial really helped me with that, though I've still got a lot to learn.

So here's a generic lame badass-dood-with-a-gun-and-mean-look-on-his-face (he even had some sort of shades in early version, but it was so lame I just couldn't take it...). I'm already aware of his oversized arms which were made that way on purpose as part of a style I was going for, but in the process I kinda messed that style up. Head and face expression also didn't turn out quite the way I wanted them to.
In the end I just gave up on those small things and focused on colors. So far I'm happy with most of it, except the lower leg armor. Looks nothing like chrome or metal. :S

And please, don't ask how the heck he holds that thing while shooting. I have no clue...

This is a concept from 2007 but I never had gotten around to painting it.

The 'borer' is exclusively used by the megacorporation URSYN as an area denial and anti insurgency weapon; thousands may be seeded in key areas whereupon they can lie dormant for months.

Borers are activated when a person or unlucky animal steps on it; the borer will rapidly tunnel up the flesh of the victim and attempt to detonate in the cranium. Even in the event that it doesn't reach the head; the borer can cause debilitating damage from the tunneling alone and is a potent psychological weapon.

Some will easily recognize parasitic worms as the borer's source of inspiration.

Yes, because noone would notice a blade wielding worm tunneling up their flesh and into their brains.
Looks sexy though, I want one.

Oh these things are quite small and I'm sure people can devise ways to camouflage them, perhaps like fake pebble capsules that release borers when stepped on and stuff like that.

It's not unreasonable to expect people to dig it out with a knife, or at least have a friend dig it out.
But the operative word is 'rapidly' and if you can't dig it out before it tears up your intestines and s**t you're probably as good as dead.

For a moment there I felt like one was going up my leg, only later did I realize it was my leg getting numb for keeping it too long in an uncomfortable position.

Pretty interesting concept Esp.

Schweet, but the bushy part hovering over the left branch doesn't quite fit right. You could uncover part of the branch, so that its entire length is visible, or darkening the edges of that bunch of leaves.

Esp, can you tell me why you're not a "lead designer" or something for soldat yet?
You got some serious talent, could use it to help with soldat, or even LD. :/
