ctf_Coolbya ver. 3.0

First map of me (and Kouleman) in these forums. One of my most popular maps. Made couple remixes already, that's why it's Coolbya3. The balance is tested a lot and I'm happy with it, that's why the release happens now.

When we planned the map we wanted to make non-mirrored map with entirely different bases. Also we hated the day when minigun surfing was nerfed, so we added ice slide boost element (whole bototm route), which makes this map fun and intense.

No waypoints, since it would require again new version, and cos I'm lazy to do them in this case (bots can't slide).

Oooh, nice. With some scenery and extra shading, it would look amazing!
Don't get me wrong, it looks great now, but you can always improve!

It seems icy and barren. Maybe add some textures that show that off?

Yah, actually I made these looks 8-9 months ago, while I was creating ver.2 which balance failed, so now I just made some huge changes in layout and stayed with theme.

actually bots can slide ;) they do it now and then.

Was actually pretty fun map when tested in #soldat.mapping . Need to try the bravo side someday though.

I never found this too unbalanced, at least it's not from the worst end.

The map has pretty much every feature a new official map should have: it's unique, fun-to-play, it has the default look (which should be one of the main criteria while picking official maps, Soldat shouldn't be a game of fancy graphics) and I bet it would rock on a public server. It's one of the few maps where icy polygons are not a problem.

Never thought this as default cos of icy polys, I felt it being nonsoldatish. However I feel that a lot more weirder stuff is made these days, so I might give it a chance.

It's been popular map in custom gather and not really ever got bad comment about it.

We'll see, maybe someday :)

Hell, this map looks much, much better and fun than some of the terribly ugly and weird maps that are default, like Lagrange.
