Leaving for the Navy
« on: March 22, 2009, 05:52:08 pm »
Howdy,

As you can see from the new soldat.pl, I've been active keeping Soldat awesome. I've been a forum member for years, and designed every forum theme since we moved off that god-awful ASP server, much thanks to our talented FliesLikeABrick :) The experience has been fun and rewarding.

On Monday, March 23rd I will be leaving for four years of active duty as a Nuclear Engineer.

My training will include eight weeks of boot camp, followed by whatever Class A school the Navy deems me fit for, and then at least six months of classes at Nuclear Power School. A quote from Wikipedia, "Due to its depth and fast pace, it is regarded as the one of the most difficult academic programs in the country." To even get this far, I had to pass the ASVAB exam with flying colors and be eligible to obtain a confidential security clearance, which required an extensive background check on me and my family.

This is going to be fun and challenging. Just want you to know, you guys are awesome. If time allows me, I will send a letter to FliesLikeABrick to update you all on everything at boot camp. Oh, and after my four-year service I expect everyone to still be here to welcome me ;D

Cheers,
ElephantHunter

P.S. Vote jrgp for Admin, baby!

Go EH!
Just be sure that when you have some spare time you tell us what's up. And a picture of a nuclear reactor would be pretty neat as well.

Whatever you do wear an orange suit and bring a crowbar.

and thats not a Freeman reference, if you'll be in the navy you'll have to fend off the gays.

Have fun.
Good luck, if we get into a catastrophic nuclear war, you will both start it and probably live. Have fun!

Navy uniforms have name tags on the ass...

100 sailors go down, 50 cute couples come up.

Branch pride aside welcome to the military my friend, it will change you. Make the most of it though and you will go far. Btw what did you get on your asvab? I got an 80*showoff*

Nice! I know a guy that got a 99 actually... anyway from what I hear your school is complex but its not as hard as they want you to think. Just stuff I hear through the grapevine though, hopefully its true.
