I've seen some effects, but most of them are minor. My mom works two jobs, and she's barely ever home. When she is home, I'm at college, so I probably see her about 2 hours per week. I also don't see some of the luxuries I used to, such as going out to dinner every now and then. Gaming purchases are out of the question as well.

Overall, things are pretty stable for us right now. Here's hoping it'll stay that way.

My cousin who luckily has a good paying job, salary was dropped 50%. Used to have a lot of extra money, now weekends are tight for him. My aunt(I live with) has a 20% salary cut and possible termination. I'm more concerned with my constitutional rights, and the apparent apathy the general public feels towards them, I am already considered one of the 1 million terrorists by the us, at age f**king 16.

About a year and a half ago I was involved in something that made me almost a trophy for police(illegal money making). I was surrounded at an empty parking lot with police who informed me there were reports of explosions going off. I said I never heard any (Which I didn't). They insisted to search me and I did not give consent, I requested information on what probable cause they had and that a complaint should have been documented and I asked to see paperwork. Was denied (doubt there was any real complaint). I was then forcibly searched and informed that I was going to be charged with some domestic terror shit and what they did was legal under patriot act. I started bitching. Was restrained and told if I did not confess to these explosions I would be charged. They also said I needed to give them my name, I obliged only becasue of the stress, stupid thing to do looking back at it. I stopped talking at that point because I was scared. More police showed up and I was released without explanation a couple minutes later when these other police talked to the police who talked to me.
I was spreading information about governmental lies and participated in a anti-war rally about a week ago(neither of these things on a large scale at all). Every time I get on a plane I have drug/bomb dogs sniff my shit and I have to wait longer than others(has happened 3-4 times). I have not been informed I am a terrorist(it's illegal to as far as I know), but I do think think that the previous thing I was talking about and this are directly related. It's a lovely world.

The company my mother works at was combined with another, and now receives just a bit less pay. It hasn't really affected us financially yet though, and for that I'm thankful.

Was laid off at the at the company I used to work at. Luckily I was able to get a job at another company within 2 blocks of the old one. Unfortunately, since they have a hiring freeze on, I had to be hired on as an 8 month contractor. The company I am now at has started cutting stuff all over the place in order to save money, doesn't matter much to me, since as a contractor I don't get benefits anyway.

A benefit of being a contractor is that it is setup as an hourly wage thing. So, if I work any longer than 8 hours a day they have to pay me overtime. Whereas fulltime salaried employees work overtime for nothing.
