.SVG Support for Crosshair.
« on: March 28, 2009, 04:17:04 am »
Simple. This way the cross hair won't pixellate when you fire for prolonged periods of time. .svg or maybe even .PDF, whichever vector suits you more.

Is this possible?

Hmm, it'd be really nice. Also center point display for bigger ones.

I'd love it if Soldat supported the SVG image type for all of the images it uses. F12!

Go to wikipedia and find some gfx of flag or something in .svg and zoom it. You'll see it's not pixelate even zoomed.

A vector image (svg, eps, pdf, etc) is the opposite of a raster/bitmap image (png, gif, jpg, bmp) in that it does not distort itself as it increases or decreases in size. This usually applies to flash games and anime, in that they're extremely smooth.

F12, but keep the default crosshair bitmap.  Would be nice for modding

Which is the best vector format? I like .svg as all programs I know (illustrator I use at school and vdme from home) all can save their vectors in that format. You can also have blank parts in vectors, just like .png's so it's be good for cross hairs.

What do you think EnEsCe?

Excellent ^_^

svg would be fantastic, but a pdf would be easier to implement, and has the ease of modification for most people.

Not an urgent idea, but a great cosmetic uplift.

Not really, pdf editors are annoying and usually costly. SVG's are easy as hell and fun to create and edit with the free vector program, Inkscape.

I bought a program for $15 that converts bitmaps to vectors, very useful.

This is very doable. Especially with C++ and even the new Microsoft Silver light.
