Real afghan map.

I want to make few maps that have to be 'ultra-realistic' for my FSF mod. Today I started makin' one afghan styled. Here you've got a screen and file of it. I'll gladly see some comments about what can I put on it etc. It's only started so there's no much things already putted. I want to make right side in grass (like it already looks) and I wanted to make something like desert on the left side (behind center mountain) but I puted a bunker there surounded with grass so it looks good. I've also ended the 'valley' in the left side (only some grass in bg and it'll be good). Have you got any ideas or maybe photos how could I make it look like?

Not very 'realistic;' those mountains look more like big dirt piles, especially when compared to that bunker [either that or it's one mother of a bunker]. Climate doesn't change when you climb over a dirt pile. Mountains in real life don't just look like _/\_. Not realistic.

Clouds are not realistic.
Sky is not orange in Afghanistan, so that's not realistic.
You forgot to make earth crust and magma and all.
Not realistic.

Don't understan that about dirt piles. If you mean the size then I've got to say they're rather hills than mountains.

Don't joke about the 'internal' earth ;D. It's map for Soldat so the overal layout have to realistic not everything :).

I'd suggest just not having clouds at all. This is a desert-themed map. If you do choose to include clouds make them high up and very white.

Also, what is the purpose of the stat gun on the left of the bunker?

You can also just order a bunch of flowers and beg Vtt to make this map for you...

he can make them look super realistic

ahh well...

first of all you should add a thick ground so you cant see that the map is floating in the air

you can also take a look on some Tw maps for inspiration... they almost all look very realistic

I would highly suggest to remove this light in the sun, shade your map manually, that´s the better way :) Bunker needs to be more grey-yellow with dirty walls and some interior like it is a normal building. Map needs also a thick ground like Drag already suggested and you should think about why there is grass in this desert ;D

I've shaded it manually and then added the light. Difference is rather small but imo with this light it looks better.

Yea, you're right. About internall, I know, it's just not finished yet.

Map needs also a thick ground like Drag already suggested and you should think about why there is grass in this desert ;D

Afghanista has very various climate. It's not just plain desert.

You could do something like this canyon on your map, e.g. place the building on top of this canyon and make a little "background" downstairs, just like there are two stories and you walk the upper one, would be nice this way ;)

and dat "mountain"... if you want to make a mountain, look at the inf_messner

in perspective this map can be long, with a lot of free, open, almost empty spaces (i mean 2 or more valleys, that would be awesome), one bunker or a lil town

btw valleys should be really big or even huge (due to afghan's realism)

Actually I wouldn´t like villages there, because this lost bunker has a flair of ... desperate feelings, just like it is in afghanistan. This thing is not a mountain, but a little hill [pigtail]

I won't make a village there. I started makin' little 'house' in bravo's (OPFOR) spawn. I've got a good idea of deep and big valley. With lot of stones and some grass somewhere.

I'll propably make some plain desert map, europe themed, some jungle propably, and some more of afghan propably 'cause I amazed of the look of this country. Everything as realistic as it can be without jets etc. connected with my FSF mod.

Let us know if you did something on the map :)

there is one bombproof shelter and one great forest road which will perfectly look in game, so wat do you think? ;)

it is not very realistic with a normal person car in the middle of the afghan desert...

maybe a tank or a plane crash or at least a jeep:)

You need some better polystructure at the bottom (thicker map). On the pic you can see what I mention: there has to be something below the normal map where you walk, like a canyon, a street that follows the way, something like that (like on my db_casa).

Also put two bravospawns in the helicopter (but this way you have to make a second version of the map without the helicopter or everybody will die :) for the realistic mode map you should then put the two spawns on the mountain).
