I don't consider killing a fleeing EFC who is off-screen spraying because you have already seen them once (as have they to you, so both parties are even in the amount of information one knows about the other) and it takes skill to predict where the EFC is to adjust your shots accordingly.

I have to agree, but for different reasons.

When you pick up a flag (in any game), you really do become the most important person in the game. Of course the enemy will try to take you down, and will use anything to do so. I believe this alone justifies the use of spray, or any "lame" tactics for that matter, but not for the benifit of the enemy. This is what makes being a flag carrier interesting, that you had to dodge sprayers and m79ers and barretards, and that is what makes a capture satisfying.

On a side note, you can shoot a flag away with bullets.

That's always fun to do with the spas.

The most pissing off way of capping is pushing the knife away from the chasing enemy at the last seconds just at the scoring point with the knife :D
Achieved hat a couple of times and dang it feels so efing good!

offscreen with an auto is just wrong lol, what if you spray without using guns..?
For signatures, you are allowed only one image in your signature which may not be wider and taller than 300 and 125 pixels, and may not be over 20kB in file size. No BMPs are allowed.

It was close to "randomly" but I chose wildly, because:

1) offscreen with an auto & offscreen - It is actually a smart move for ctf_Maya and other maps.

2) randomly - Again, I think this is a same thing as offscreen.

I'd say the off-screen shooting would be counted as spraying, it isn't noobish in anyway way. As some people have said, it is an excellent tactic on most maps. You can easily weaken a enemy by spray a few bullets in the direction of the typical main route. Of course over time you get better at it and tend to spray in the right direction, this is vital in CTF wars. Just my opinion, most people should agree with it.

Spraying is using any auto weapon in a certain direction (without supressive fire) randomly, at anyone who comes by, even if there is no one there...

Have you epicly failed today?

"Should"???
Ugh that was so stupid to say it's more stupid than the word stupid itself...And it's only vital during chases or covering the own flagger, having a well seasoned camper, sniper, or stopper in the middle lines is even a better tactic...

why do all your post have "knife only" somewhere... duh

on topic: spraying to me is the opposite of aiming, however trying to catch the EFC by doing this is OK.

if you fire offscreen but you know where the enemy is approximately (like in an FC chase, and the EFC is just out of your screen/you can see his jet trails) then it's not spraying. If you just got killed by a camper and you respawn and shoot at him from just offscreen, that's an iffy situation.  The less you know about the enemy's position (or where exactly to aim), the more it's spraying.  There isn't an easily definable fine line.
Can't think of anything original to put here...

Well, on Dodgeball and Knife Only servers I tend to "spray" knives in a player's general direction or where I assume they may be. This is especially true on servers which give you infinite knives (by pressing "Change weapons").

To spray is to hold down the trigger of an automatic weapon and point in the direction of whatever you want to die.  :)

What you just said defines nothing at all. If i want the guy that is next to me to die, i press thetrigger in his direction, yet it ain't spraying.

There are many variables that can be considered as sprayig, yet some are more flagrant than the others. I stick to the "shooting in a direction without any information of enemy players" is spraying.

Umm... Mine definition (like a few people have said) is people using auto's and shooting in the general direction of a person who is off screen or a base.

Hmm. In Trenchwars, you'll usually know pretty well where the enemy is. But getting caught with not enough bullets means death. Spraying often happens but it doesn't usually degenerate into spraying wars since once you kill and enemy or two, you can just rush them. Spraying isn't effective enough to stop a determined attack, and the attackers will gain another strongpoint eventually.

Barret spraying I would define as laying down in your base, or other such clear location, shooting a few shots to get the line right and then just holding down the 'fire'-button while not moving your mouse, shooting in such an angle that it strikes an often-travelled passage. It's very different from what I use when I'm spraying with an auto.

For example, if I or a teammate gets sniped, the next time I move to that spot I'll often shoot controlled bursts, often with Steyr or HK, towards the presumed enemy location, in the hopes that I'll bink him and be able to close in for the kill.
When you're in the bottom of a deep rocky pit, and you think you can't get any lower, god hands you a shovel.
