I've also met my current girlfriend through last.fm, but that's just awkward!
Holy shit, that's amazing! I never really thought of last.fm as a social networking site, but apparently it is. I'd really like to hear more about how you met your gf through it.

Aw cmon man, last.fm is all about the social networking, just heavily based on music.

I imagine it takes more effort than facebook or other sites though.
But, there are tons of groups on last.fm and liking the same music is somewhere to start at least.

I don't have too many things scrobbled because I always forget to install the plugin. I have no idea where the most recently listened tracks were scrobbled from. Maybe Pandora Radio? I'm not sure. It looks like stuff that I was playing in Grooveshark, but I'm pretty sure Grooveshark doesn't scrobble.

Interesting. I've always seen and used it as a site primarily for music statistics, not really much else.

It depends on your personality I guess: for me, people on the internet have quite often been more interesting than the ones in my surroundings, and it was always easy to me to take online shit into real life.

It was back in last January, just after new year's. Last.fm threw her in as a neighbour, and I saw her listening to a hungarian band that was hard to get a hold of, so we exchanged some comments. Then we got on MSN, and talked even some more after she sent me those songs, but it was never serious or hitting or anything: for one, she lives 230 km-s away, and we both were in relationships at the time. Nevertheless, we became friends, even went on and met up once (her bf was there too, it was funny). Came the end of june and the end of highschool, we both broke up with our not-so-significant others and I went to her place for a visit. The funny thing is, it never did occour to me that anything would happen - I had a long distance relationship before, and didn't want to spend my summer bumming in anything like that again. To my surprise, she had already been in love with me by then, through the internet (went far enough to have some of the better shit from my otherwise scrappy blog ON HER WALL), and... well, it's been on since then, kind of. We had a long break during the winter, because it's a very, very demanding thing, but it's also the most fullfilling relationship I've ever been in. Being in love sucks cock.

It's probably easier to get something like that in Hungary, because it's a small country, and 20% of the whole population actually lives in my city too, but yeah, last.fm is incredible for true social networking, because if you play your cards right, it's much more than just a cock measuring contest based on how many friends you have.
