I think it's good. In past versions it was never too powerful, either too weak (that was when it was the Colt 1911, before it was changed to the Socom) or just right. The Socom has never changed for many versions except for a few not so significant buffs/nerfs to the damage. It still kills in 6 shots against a full-health opponent no matter what, the only difference is whether it can kill injured enemies faster or slower. However, note that the Socom's damage only changes according to the pace of Soldat. The faster the pace of Soldat, the more damage the Socom gets, but it will ALWAYS only kill in 6 shots against a full-health opponent.
Two simple reasons.
1) The Socom can never match the potential of the Primary weapons. If you ever defeat a Primary user with a Socom, you're in a lucky scenario whereby you have the advantage or the enemy is a terrible player.
A) DEs.
Socom shoots at 12 ticks, DEs at 23 ticks (DEs are ultimately faster). DEs do a bit more than 1/2 the damage of Socom and has slightly higher bullet speed. Socom has 12 ammo while DEs have 7 ammo. Do the maths. The DEs kill a lot faster and the DEs can be said to indirectly have more ammo because it shoots two bullets at once - 2x7=14. The only reason why a Socom can beat DEs is because the DE user is crap while the Socom user is good. An accurate DE-user will defeat the Socom easily.
B) MP5
Socom kills in 6 shots. MP5 kills in approximately 9 (damage ratio 3:2). The MP5 shoots twice as fast and has slightly higher bullet speed, and has 2.5 times the ammo. Do the math again. The MP5 kills much faster than the Socom and has the potential can kill more opponents than the Socom.
C) AK-74
AK kills in 7 as opposed to 6 in Socom. AK shoots 2 ticks faster and has a much longer range, plus a lot more ammo. AK's the obvious winner.
D) Steyr Aug
Aug fires almost twice as fast as the Socom, has a much longer range. Damage ratio same as that with MP5. Aug's the obvious winner.
E) Spas-12
The Spas' buffs have made it even more formidable. It can beat the Socom once it gets close enough.
F) Ruger 77
It can kill in 2 or 3 shots and has superior range. Cannot be binked too. Ruger's an obvious winner in most situations.
G) M79
A 1-hitter. If it hits, the Socom's dead, otherwise the Socom can beat the M79.
H) Barrett
Another 1-hitter. If it hits the Socom first, the Socom's dead, otherwise the Socom wins. Bink is an issue, but the Barrett has best range of all guns.
E) Minimi
Kills in 8 shots, has superior range. Minimi shoots 1.5 times faster than the Socom. A good Minimi user can shoot his Minimi accurately by making use of his bink to override his movementacc. Minimi wins.
2) The Socom is the only non 1-hitting secondary, made to be a backup/finisher weapon when you are out of ammo etc. The Socom performs this role well. It loses to the Knife in versatility because the Knife can kill in 1-hit unlike the Socom. It loses to the LAW because of both the lack of 1-hit kill ability and the lack of range (but has the advantage of being usable even in mid-air compared to LAW). It is only fair that this weapon can kill multiple opponents quickly at a distance as an advantage over the other secondary weapons.
