Forum rules - how many of us read 'em ?
« on: May 06, 2009, 09:56:36 am »
Something interesting I made from my calculations:

[vest] If all the registered users are 10077
, There are 23 topics for "Read this first / Rules"

[vest] After some other calculations , it shows up that the average views  on all of them are 71,657, divided by 23 = aprox. 3115 views.

[vest] So there is an average of 3115 of views on all the "read this first / Rules" topics.

Now, Every user should check one topic like that like once , right?

[vest] If we divide 10077 by 3115  we will see the average vewing (rate?) on all forum categories , and it's aprox. 3.2   .

Now, if we substract proportionally the views from every "rtf/ Rules" topics from every category , we will see what's the reading rate on every categ.

[vest] Then we'll devide the 3115 number to each Rules topic's views . For example: on General Discussions we have: 15730 views. If we do 3115/15730 the result will be 0.19802... , so we'll take it as 0.2 . Now , if we substract the average viewing rate on forums with the result we had before , the final views per user will be 3.

So,
Here's the view per user ratio list on each category:

  • General Discussions:                           3
  • Public Beta Reports/ Discussion:         2.2
  • Need Help? Report bugs!:                   2.4
  • Game Imporvements / Suggestions :  2.2
  • Soldat Moments:                                 2.2
  • Server Help:                                        2.4
  • Scripting Discussions and Help:           2.7
  • Adverts:                                               2
  • Clan Discussion:                                  -0.3 -what!?
  • Clan Recruitment:                                2.4
  • Fan Apps:                                            3
  • Fan Art and Movies:                             3.1
  • Tournaments and Clan Wars:              1.5
  • Mapping Ideas / General Discussions: 1.8
  • Mapping Help / Resources:                  2.1
  • CTF/INF maps:                                     2.2
  • DM/HTF/Other maps:                           1.8
  • Bot Forum:                                          1.2
  • Full Modifications:                                2
  • Partial Modifications:                           1.9
  • Modded Interfaces:                             1.5

As a message to moderators/admins, check the ones with lower ratio . I hope the list helps  [medikit]

I hope my calculations are right - if they're not , i will /brutalkill ..

Wait. Consider that from 10077 members, only ~450 have got more than 100 posts, I mean, they where somehow active.
Plus, 4550/10077 did NEVER made any post, but could, at least once, take a look to the rules.
People also check more than once the rules...

That means:

Only 450 members that ANYTIME (Not exactly now) had some kind of activity and made about 100 posts.
And that 5500 members did at least, once, make some post.

Calculate again?

It should also be mentioned that people who are not logged in viewing topics / boards cause the view count to increase. Really, this topic is pointless. What do you expect to gain from it, Mx7? It's a huge waste of time. Just read the rules and stop bickering uselessly.

he has too much time...

And some don't  ^^ Maybe that explains the low read rate of the forum rules.
(not me! I read the rules!(NO REALLY!)(Seriously!))

If you don't read the rules you get banned/frowned at, hunted down and justice served upon you. So even if you don't, justice will be served by ninja's. That's not the pussy ninjas you talk about on MSN, these are actually ninjas who have flaming swords and will actually kill you. So read the rules.

Well you should. Some are boring rants, but i found reading this forums rules quite enjoyable, especially the puppy. It's good to know what's allowed and what's not so you don't get flamed.

It's not really that much to remember: just don't be a dick, keep avatar's and sig small'ish, and keep your posts useful. Not much aside from that.
