Make Shoozza a Moderator?

Shoozza.

He's been in the Soldat community for a very long time, and has submitted patches to the Soldat Dedicated Server, fixed several security vulnerabilities, and has developed much of ARSSE.

Shoozza is extremely knowledgeable in the fields of programming, tech support, and many other areas. I think that using these skills, as well as his extreme sense of maturity and leadership skills, that he'd make a perfect Moderator.

Sure, why not?  He's a funny guy and like jrgp said knowledgable in programming, etc.

will making him a moderator and thus raising our already pretty huge staff pool by yet another charming chap make this place suck less?

or could we finally stop reinforcing the image that the whole goal of being a soldat forums member is to end up as a mod/admin one day, and start putting some REAL EFFORT into this board so it won't be the community's shitpile?

One of my main reasons for this is so if someone finds an important vulnerability in the soldat server, or something similar, that must be kept secret, he can lock / edit / delete the topic / post before anyone bad sees it. In addition to that, if he's a mod, he can sticky his important patches himself as soon as he posts them instead of having to wait for EnEsCe (or whoever else) to do so, ensuring that they'll be noticed sooner.

If Shoozza wasn't a Soldat developer who regularly updates the source code then I wouldn't have even considered making him one.

I agree with you, we don't need more moderators. But Shoozza's purpose for being one is different.

And after he's made one (I doubt the poll results will change against his favor) there won't be any additions to the forum staff for years, unless a great majority of the current ones go inactive / leave forever and something comes up requiring the need for more.

in that case, why make a vote for him anyway? Developers have traditionally been staff members anyway (being the main gear behind soldat itself).

In any case, if Shoozza is an important contributor to the timeline of Soldat as you say he is, then by all means make him a moderator already.
