Make lounge posts count towards post count.
« on: May 11, 2009, 10:02:42 pm »
It's not really a big deal, but the lounge seems like a pretty important part of these forums.
Not having lounge posts count is a little misleading to me.

Most of the things in the lobby forum are just spam, and since it has nothing to do with Soldat, should not give post count.

I'd say that the soldat community has everything to do with soldat.

No. Gives people more incentive to spam as they just love increasing useless numbers.

The Lounge
Place for unrelated-to-soldat chat and anything off topic. Post count does not increase. Intended for serious discussion of off-topic stuff, not spam. [Be friendly or we'll hurt you]

The lounge has nothing to do with Soldat is what I was saying...

EDITED:
Replaced lobby with lounge, because iDante is picky.

Post count should not increase. We want to give people incentive to post things related to the Soldat. Also, it keeps the spam to a minimum.

Post count should not be an incentive for posting. That creates spam.

Just bringing up the idea as it's been bugging me for a while. Seems the world disagrees however :(

Heh, look at your post count versus mine. I should be the one complaining :P

We don't glorify post count, but that doesn't mean we can't use it to our advantage. I think the Soldat community appreciates this subtle encouragement to participate.

It's not the size of your post count that matters, but what you do with it.

Btw, I do not suffer from post envy.

To be honest, I really want to go back to the ol' four blue stars.

Who cares about post count as long as a user makes quality posts and contributes well? Ya sure, they look nice, but I'd rather respect someone who makes few but useful posts than a spammer with nice stars.

Same goes for any karma system or whatever "ranking system".

To be perfectly honest, I'm find with removing post count altogether.

Reputation is essentially the same as karma.

Yeah, you're right.  My bad.  I guess the normal post count is okay for now.

Yeah, that's what I said in chat last night, same thing.

As for "Karma," is that meaning the thing that other users can give you Positive or Negative?
If so.. Yay for -99999999 Karma for a lot of people who have different opinions from others.

I'd go for no post count (but still able to access from profile page or stats page or w/e).
