Rubiks cube
« on: May 15, 2009, 01:29:36 pm »
So I've been getting some feedback about my Rubik's cube and somebody mentioned something with a loop.  This  is a message Pekay sent me, and I'm wondering if somebody knows how to do what he described.

You see that the cube is gradually growing, right? At the end of the animation (at the loop, when it starts again) the cube becomes abruptly small again. There is no transition between the biggest size (end of animation) and the smallest size (beginning of the animation).
To smoothen it you need to add a few new frames to the end where the cube shrinks to the smallest size again. This way you have a smooth transition.

This is an example of a more or less smooth transition. The aim is to make it hard for the spectator to identify the first frame ;) It loops (ends and starts again).

In order to add those frames you will need a Gif-creator or editor. I am afraid I won't be able to help you with that :(
( I hope you dont mind I posted your PM here).

I am also interested in knowing if somebody knows how to get rid of the white pixels you can see at the cubes edges.  Also I think I've asked this before but is there somebody talented enough on the forums so that they could animate my Rubik's cube even more (having the cube in ice then the sun shines on it, it melts and solves itself then).

Help & Feedback appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks for posting that Niko, but I have no idea what to do with it.  I'm not too familiar with this sort of stuff, but maybe Wraithlike could help me out.

Also it's frames.  ;)

Is this kinda what you wanted? :)
For signatures, you are allowed only one image in your signature which may not be wider and taller than 300 and 125 pixels, and may not be over 20kB in file size. No BMPs are allowed.

Isn't that one exactly like the one I have right now? If you look at the edges closely you can see the little white patches.  That's what I'm trying to get fixed.  Thanks though, p0ppin.

Ah well, you said you needed it to be a smoother transition... if you look, I have it reverse itself back to being smaller/jumbled :o

Oh sorry you're right, I just noticed.  Very nice p0ppin! :) Thanks.  Do you know any idea how to get the other things I posted?

I think to remove the white patches you'll need to make the same thing Niko made for you again --> split up the full gif-file into the single frames and then remove the white pixels from each frame by replacing them by black (to add to the outline of the cube) or just transparency.

Well, it'll be a lot more annoying to fix than the thing I did.  I could go into each frame and erase the annoying white outline :P

I would appreciate it a thousandfold if someone would do that for me! :)

Only if you want to.  If it's too hard and takes too long then it's okay, I'll leave it how it is.

If i remember, bmp doesnt support transparency.
Last year, I dreamt I was pissing at a restroom, but I missed the urinal and my penis exploded.

Nahh, I accidentally forgot to delete a background layer that I was using to see the white pixels easier.  It's done now  :P

Hahahha, it can only be 20kb or lower.  But it looks good p0ppin you got rid of the white pixels, nice.
Any idea how to make it smaller now?

I really appreciate all of the help guys! If you never need anything tell me and I'll try to help you as much as you've helped me.
Thanks guys. :)

EDIT: At one spot p0ppin you can still see white pixel spots at the bottom.  Just thought I'd point it out.  Thanks for doing it though.

As long as it meets the Forum Rules (max. 50kb for avatars) it's fine I think :)

@croat: Bmps DO support transparency. Funnily I thought GIFs do not support transparency but they also do as it seems :o

Eh would decreasing the time between frames make the file size smaller?
