As the name suggests, i'd like to see more permanent gore effects.

When a body is shot and lands on the ground, it'd be cool to see blood splatter all over the polygon too. The blood would simply use the same fade in and out method as the smoke from when a grenade blows up. Of course the blood should disappear after like 5-10 seconds.

Here's a picture to help show what i meant.

yeah, I support this. But maybe it would cause display problems with maps? Like to much of the poly being covered and players getting confused.

Lol yeah, that'd be good. But the blood should only last like 5 seconds max coz imagine zombie servers with like 500 Litres of blood sticking everywhere for 10 seconds


-- Maybe this would be an idea for MM to look into to make Registering that 1% more worth it? he could have a personal gore option that only apply's to that person the way THEY select it.

e.g Gore Is Registered Only

Gore [on] [off]
Gore Level [Little] - [Lots] - [Bloody] - [Bloody Gore!]
Blood Time (how long blood lasts for) [3 seconds] - [5 seconds] - [10 seconds] - [13 seconds]
Blood Colour - Green, Blue, Red, Pink, Etc.



But this is a differant idea sort of, but its a idea for you.

If this were to be done, I would also really hope that gradual fade effects be implemented, instead of body parts and blood disappearing right away upon respawn, or if it would only disappear when no player on the server's monitor is focused on the section that is to vanish.

I should have made this a poll to show how many people like the idea. :p

And yea, i think a gradual fade in/out would be a must-have if this were implemented.

It would be fun, But think about the lag in zombie servers! if your playing zombie there arent many caps that leads to a map change there be millions of blood stains (cursing lag to me and some other players). if its an option ifs 100% supported.

As long as the fadin process is made client side (as it surely is, server does not even need to know that there is some blood) it could be easily done. if player position, and blood positions distance is over x units, make it disapprear. :)

I think that blood goin actually INSIDE the soil is not SO intelligent. :P Same would be if there was something like flares, dynamic lighting, shadows, and all of them could actually be rendered to inside a polygon. :P

Good idea. I think it could be implemented by having a small blood image appear when a blood image hits the poly, then bounces.
I don't think this should be a registered feature, but it should be handled by whoever does the blood code (I think the client).

Nothing in soldat is permanent!  In the old version bodies would remain on the screen - there's a good reason why they don't anymore:  They clutter the screen too fast and allows for camping behind them.  The blood stain doesn't change the game play over time - just makes it look cooler.

Some gore effects will make the game a bit more interesting IMO and maybe also the bodies.
but of course it'll fade out after like a minute or half a minute, that could be cool.

I love this idea. I just finished playing a 30 minutes team match with 9 bots on each side and I thought that it would be nice if ~500 dead bodies would actually litter the battlefield providing additional cover against snipers and machinegun fire.

That's why it would be an option, that could be turned on and off.

It would have a clear advantage for Red team, though, someone might get the idea to make the blood the same color as alpha's shirts.
