Crouching in Mid-Air
« on: May 22, 2009, 10:08:07 pm »
Before I describe, I've searched the forum and only found one related topic (found here) so don't tell me to do so first.

It's self explanatory, can we have the ability to crouch in mid-air without walking off a cliff while crouched? Basically while in the air you press down and ta-da you are crouched.

Yes you could go prone but crouching is quicker in my opinion. Don't say "well it's not" because it's my personal opinion.

Good Things
~ ability to use scope
~ ability to fire LAW
~ smaller target area (like prone)

Bad Things
~ none!
~ the DOWN key isn't used in mid-air as far as I know
~ a player could accidentally press it but its the same for other buttons

having to crouch for law was precisely put in so that it's used strictly on the ground, also proning in mid air already looks retarded so no...

1. LAW will only be used on the ground. No more arguments about that son.
2. You can already scope while proning.
3. Why would you want to crouch when you can become a smaller target by proning.

As far as I'm aware of it, it's useless ~_~

1) You can already use scope anytime you crouch or prone
2) The LAW is strictly a weapon that must be fired when on the ground in a crouch/prone position. There was an old version in Soldat whereby the LAW could be fired by proning in mid-air, which was very unbalanced.

For smaller target area, that's reasonable, since crouching is faster than proning, and it would add on to evasive ability in Soldat to a certain extent.

However, overall, I don't think this is a very useful suggestion. F11.

In fact, you already can. Go to some edge in a high place, throw a pair of grenades where there's still ground, crouch and wait.

Nah he means by pressing down in midair, not on the ground. Pretty useless imo. Btw: there is a bug that allows you to shoot with a law in midair, but I dont tell how and I wont use it ...

We've got a prone already which allows us to do 2 of those abilities you're looking for. However, the third one is meant to used on ground, not in air. So the idea doesn't sound very pleasing nor very essential to me..

Not for me, there's no real need in anyway.

Nah this doesn't sound useful and probably can't be, cause I can't imagine you trying to jet while in that position when in the rush of engaging enemies, the down button would slow down the jets and prevent you from being able to go sideways, and the proning already does it all. Besides, the LAW will never be fired from mid-air because it was proven to be very overpowered in those situations.

Nope, LAW was restricted to the ground for a reason.  There's a simpler way to crouch midair other than Niko's, just run of an edge while crouching and hold it.  If you're in midair and you time it right, you can land very close to the edge, quickly crouch and move very little.  Then you can get into a mid air crouch if you really really want to without losing much speed.

As far as I know, it has a similar effect to normal crouching, that is, your bullets go straighter.  Other than that, you got your prone, and I would find it quite useless ;)

proning in mid-air would only make it more difficult with the LAW....
Any one will be able to jump-prone and fire like a normal weapon...

Well if you want to crouch in the air, just get the crouch bug lol.
