Black screen, FAQ read :P
« on: May 28, 2009, 12:36:34 pm »
I have installed Windows XP SP 3 on my laptop.
I tried to run Soldat and I had an error:

Code: [Select]
---------------------------
Soldat
---------------------------
Access violation at address 6DF2E684 in module 'd3d8.dll'. Read of address 00000000.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I pressed ok and:

Code: [Select]
---------------------------
Soldat
---------------------------
Access violation at address 0051B7B4 in module 'Soldat.exe'. Write of address 00004B70.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Reinstall (I deleted folder and all "Soldat registry"), install new DirectX. And nothing...
I changed some options in Config and I didn`t have errors! I started game and... BLACK SCREEN :<
Start -> Run -> dxdiag
DxDiag Raport

Please don`t whine that I have too bad laptop (Dell Laptitude CPx) because Soldat was working on it before reinstall (Windows reinstall)
Maybe drivers? Please links :P

More info on the integrated video card?
It is probably causing the problems.
Last year, I dreamt I was pissing at a restroom, but I missed the urinal and my penis exploded.

As far as I know, running Soldat with Force Software ON often causes the black screen. Try turning it off and turning Video Compatibility ON. If you get access violations, you could probably search the forum for solutions (like the sticky). Often times you can solve the problem by adjusting the font.ini file and various other tricks. Hope this helps :)

Try the video Compatibility indeed,
also
Driver Date/Size: 10/26/2001 20:59:18, 382592 bytes

Try updating your video drivers and then reinstall DirectX.
