And I don't think its useless, but I'm more of a knifer myself.

It is abused alot as A spawner weapon....but it is usually good secondary. Its fun haveing a chainsaw dule with someone....You never know who will live.

b4 i get to the topic at hand ill give a bit of info about my self so u guys know

User name is cyborg, I live in australia and play only in aus servers (due to being 56k or in technical terms a lagger XD) been playing soldat for many many a years and am considered one of the best chainsaw users if not the best chainsaw user in aus, I also run a chainsaw clan and have a chainsaw server for Saw Wars and saw clan wars(we have yet to try chainsaw against a normal gun clan we hope to try it soon and pray to dear god it goes well XD)...

now with all that bs aside i think some of u ppl underestermate the chainsaw... its tru that a simple spas 12 can own a saw user its tru that any gun can own a saw user, but a skillful chainsaw user can devistate an entire team in a matter of seconds...

now any questions about the chainsaw (ei. y am i not killing anyone, who wins if 2 chainsaw users go at each other and anything else) and I'll be happy to answer anything i can...

now Grey I just happen to know y u cant kill ppl when u hit with them... my guesses are that u rev the saw way to late/as soon as u think u touch them, DONT!, rev the saw early, when i make a kill i have about 5 ammo left with it...

reason why u rev the saw early is so if theres any lag between u and ur kill reving it earlier cuts the lag out of the story so that ur chainsaw can kill instead of them warping by you and u leaving them either unharmed or very hurt... try that mate and im 90% curtain that will fix ur chainsaw...

let me know if uncle Cyborg has fixed your chainsaw later.

Actually, you can just resize your avatar to an appropriate size.

The chainsaw is often ideal for infiltration maps like inf_Outpost.  In that map, the flag is in a very small area and boxes are everywhere, so you get cover from the boxes, the opponents can't dodge, and you can grab the flag and get out of there.  The chainsaw often works on ctf_Equinox as well, when the flag is in a little tunnel.  Again, you can just run in with the saw going, grab the flag, and get out of there.

The chainsaw is an effective weapon in the right situations, but keep in mind that it IS a secondary weapon, and it's not meant to stand up to the primaries.

This isn't why people don't die with the saw. I often run through 2-3 people over a period of about 2 seconds with the saw buzzing away... and only get 0-1 kills. On other occasions I'll run up to someone who's standing still, use a whole reload of saw on them, and nothing happens, then they punch me and I drop the saw. Quite ridiculous. It's probably just lag, maybe the game not showing you the exact position of your opponent. But whatever it is, it's not about your timing.

Anyway, you must have some real steel gonads to want to go up against gun clans. Good luck with that

Yeah, and the same with the knife stabbing people, too. I got annoyed recently when I found a predator and thought I'd go on a stabbing spree. Could not kill a single person despite multiple stabs. Then I got slapped with a grenade and died. I'd suppose it's lag, but you'd think after standing there whacking away at someone with a chainsaw or knife for several seconds that at some point the hit would register and kill.

Equip saw > Go prone > Press and hold fire button > Crawl in the direction of enemy base = Unstoppable

Chainsaw is great for a close combat secondary weapon, you just have to learn when and where to use it. No improvements need to be made.

hmm now that is a pussle to me u sure the servers u play in aint weapon moded... no of couse not, normaily i would call that lag tis y i say to rev early way b4 u touch them but if that isnt working then I for one can ownestly say that i dont know how to fix ur saw... perhaps if its wat u say positioning is wrong dont try to saw them if there in 1 spot just rev early and run through and if they dont drop just keep goin someones sure to drop eventauly, either way i dont seem to get that problem most ppl die for me.

as some of you have said saw is real good in some situation, eg inf_warehouse u just run through with saw get flag and thats that, or if ur the blue team try a lil saw flag camping nothing like waiting till the last second pop out for a kill unexpected and saying "Boo" scares the **** outa some players... always gets my saw fix XD

as for improvments i dont think the saw so much as needs them but this is wat i would like to see done if it was gonna get an improvement of my choice

box colider fix: when someones in a box and you try to saw them down, 9/10 times you'll miss cos the saw hits the box colider and not the person can be a real problem in saw duels/fights wars or in general "the right situation" (eg trying to kill those damn saw flag campers in inf_warehouse)

wall fix, if u prone against a wall with a saw and a saw'er comes up to saw u down for some reason the one coming to saw the wall proner has greater chance of missing the kill, even if go right on top of them or underthem or watever theres some bug somewhere that alows the wall proner to have some advantage

this is the one i would choose if i had my choice of 1 fix, for the whole saw to kill instead of just the tip of the saw, if u knowtice with the saw only the tip of the blade kills and even then the tip is like .3mm out from the blade it self, its not a huge problem but if the whole saw killed ppl woundnt complain about needing more ammo or saw needs more to do more dmg etc etc... tho personly saw doesnt need to do more dmg, and putting more ammo in it would make it a less skillfull weapon but I woulndt complain if theres more ammo added to it...

the only improvement for the saw is to take reload off. now, dont go off saying this is "unrealistic" because soldat is unrealistic to begin with.

and ur right speed is another factor...

there are many with the chainsaw and it would be alot more fun with chainsaw if it had unlimited ammo /mercy blood trick with it would rock!!!

but the major factor with saw is just to have fun with it if u have that anyone can use it.

so not tru im 56k lag at about 150-200 in any server i go in and Im considered still to be one of the best in aus with it if not the best... ive known plety of laggers to use saw very good(eg Mofonofo lags about 250 and does very well with the chainsaw), only time lag really afects saw is saw vs saw lower ping has a greater advantage but still very beatable if u know how.

And i'm a knifer myself, but i switch to chainsaw or law sometimes. SOCOM is the only secondary i don't use.
