EliteCTF is down...and I know who hacked it.

Hey, you guys haven't heard from me in a while, but I was still playing Soldat under a different name and stuff. I was doing alot of undercover stuff for EliteCTF, anyway, some guy hacked EliteCTF, I know the guy and can get him to undo the proccess, if I pay him a little moolah, but I'm not gonna pay for nothing. I was once an admin on all Elite server and I even donated some servers to EliteCTF, then JFK accused me of just "talking to a hacker" and he took me off admin and my servers are no longer welcome. I didn't do anything wrong except talk to a hacker. So your options are:

1. Create a WHOLE new community under a differnt domain name. You'd have to build everything from scratch.

2. Sell the website to me. I will buy it at a reasonable price for both of us. I will upkeep the website and the community and make it so much better than what it already is.

3. Give me admin on the servers and the website.

Apparently the guy who hacked it was hacking Soldat and an admin banned him, he was furious and told me he was gonna hack EliteCTF's website. I asked him if there was anyway to stop him from hacking it, and he said "Sure, pay me.". So I tried to stop him, but I couldn't. The website is still there, so if I pay him the website will go back to normal like nothing happened. Please understand where I'm coming from, I'm not gonna give away money to a site that basically banned me. JFK, you can PM me or go on MSN and we can work something out.

Uhmm..hah? Just remote login or ssh the server and go to a backup apache conf. And look through the logs to see his ip and ban it and fix any issues with security, there is probably a patch for whatever.

Miketh2005, you tried to donate a server long ago when Spasm ran the site, then advertised it as a hacking server back when you played as Capt. Jack Sparrow and was banned for a while for hacking yourself. You look to insult JFK for whatever reason despite him being the reason the servers and community still exist and contribute nothing really to the site other than lame attacks and snide remarks. That you would post such a message so soon and so publicly makes me think if anyone did hack the site, it would be you. Nonetheless, there's no need for such a topic, and this announcement serves no purpose here. I'm not sure it would be within a moderator's interest or ability to lock this, but I would request it be done just the same if possible.

@EliteCTF: This issue can easily be fixed by anybody with basic server knowledge. Hell, I'd do it myself if I had access. But by the looks of it, EliteCTF is hosted on one of FliesLikeABrick's servers; so I would assume he would have backups of everything. As Jettlarue said, read the apache logs to see what was done and prevent further harm. From what I can see, it looks like he has just put invalid stuff into the .htaccess file in /newaccess/. The Apache config is still perfectly fine. Erase/rename the .htaccess file in /newaccess/ and see if the website works.

i have no idea what you are talking about, my servers were never banned when spasm was in office, and dont know what your talking about advertising my servers for hackers to come? thats unheard of! who would do that? and i never attacked anybody. where do u see i attacked? i never insulted JFK in my post, i think you are going on the defensive too fast. i cant even script, much less hack a website. if you were active on the forum you would see that i was posting on the forum and chatting in the shoutbox regularly again, and like i said i knew who did it and he told me he was gonna hack it, so i knew. i dont know exactly when this happened, so how would you know that it was soon after the hack took place? i even offered you adminship on my forum, and you think i contributed nothing to the community? what more did you do except having more posts than me? when spasm was leaving both me and JFK would have kept eliteCTF going.

Through the host restoring the site to it's previous state.

EliteCTF was down because of some maintenance I did on the server last night that conflicted with the permissions on a few files in elitectf's website.  (I enabled a PHP security modification that executes scripts as their owners, but it won't execute the scripts if they're writeable by anyone else but the owner, which some of those were [but not anymore])

I don't know what to make of this, but it is really sketchy that you're coming here trying to make money off of their site being down, claiming it was hacked.

I'm going to unlock this topic because I want to hear what you and other people have to say about it.

Heh, while that 500 error is often caused by invalid .htaccess files, that was not the issue in this case.

Hey, you got it wrong, I'm not asking for money, I was asking for my privelges back. Apparently the guy who said he hacked it was just trying to make a quick buck, pretending he hacked it when he didn't, if it was actually you. What great timing >.>

EDIT: just talked to the guy, he said some pretty lame excuse on how the fbi is tracking him for using a fake credit card and he doesnt want to get into more trouble so he stopped hacking it, after i told him what u said, he said:

im not tryin to make money, i want some proof that it was under maintainance, and why on the day that i started exploiting it? why not today?
