I know the feeling...it's hard at first, but time heals all wounds.

Besides, you have loads of great memories, so she's never really gone is she?
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

Very true.. I've been preparing myself for this for a while, and although it sucks.. i know that this is right.

I'm trying not to be selfish. She's in pain.

My dog Rambo lived to be 15, which is really good for a german shepherd. We put him down because his back legs gave out...

Yeah it feels ****ty for the first 3 days then you get used to it. And you'll always have memories.

It sucks when this happens, but you are doing the right thing man. Good luck, and keep the good memories.

that sucks for you and your dog. i know cus when i was 12 my dog i had since i was 3 and my mom and my grandpa who was always at my house  all died within 6 months of each other. it is hard for a couple weeks and then after that i get  some weeks when i feel like shit and others when im feel good. seems to me forgetting everything that you ever knew about them is what is happening since my father has put all pictures of all of the dead in a locked room...i guess this isnt real reassuring, my bad :S anyways all the best to you.

you know what..

When i left for bootcamp i had this dog. named banana it was a black lab.. the smartest dog.. and my best friend besides mr goku buu my other dog... banana i got when i was 7 .. he was such a good friend we went threw.. the hardest times.. and when i was sad or sick he was always there.. Always right beside me.. i threw up on the dog a few times.. he never cared and i cleaned him up... before i left i hugged him and kissed him all over saying i will miss you but when i come home ill be there for you buddy..

He had.. problems with his legs he was getting very old...

Well ... my mother and grandmother wrote to me in bootcamp the whole time.. It was a hard time for me.. i always asked about banana .. and mr goku :) they always said.. they where fine doing this and this...

Well... when i got home from bootcamp i asked ! where are my dogs.. Mr goku came running... as always.. i greated him.. and kissed him and go where is banana!

They said... with a horrible look in there face hes in the backyard.. they looked sad.. i thought it was just because i was back and they where crying with happyness so i ignored it.. i went into the back yard.. and.. i saw a tomb.. saying banana with dirt Newly dug up.. in the old strawberry patch.. thats probley the first and the last time i ever broke down crying .. it was pretty messed up how they never told me they put him to sleep while i was Gone... I have never had so much agression and.. sadness in me before..

:( Thats rough.  My family had my dog before I was born so I grew up with it, it was pretty hard when she had to be put down.  She was really sick and not going to get better so we had to put her down. :'(

No. I'm not going to get all bitchy about this, but I just don't beleave in putting animals to sleep.

But I rember when my dog died :( She was 16 year old pitbull. My mom and dad got her rightbefore I was born.

People always think pitbulls are just evil killers, but abby never bit or growled at me once.

The only time I ever rember being bitten by her was when she was jumping trying to get this old rag we tied to a tire-swing and I was on it, and she accidently bit me...my whole side was a little bloody, but I knew she didn't try to.

Before she died she was haveing lots of blatter and trouble walking. But she was a smart dog. She would walk for a while untill she started to get wobbly, then lean aginst a tree, ect.

She would fallover some times and couldent get up, me or my dad would pick her up.

I was at school when she died. According to my dad him, my mom, and abby were outside, abby fell onto a brick walkway, so my dad went over to pick her up, and she started breathing really heavily...then she just...died.

Oh great...now i'm crying....time to go....

Dude when i was 10 I had a pet goat, it got tetanus and I watched it suffer more then I can imagine for days until it died, I even saw my dad try to tube feed it and heard the screams of it freaking out. Also I had a dog that was barely clinging to life, was hit by a car 3 times, everyday we had to go up to her and shake her to make sure she was still alive... im not being a pussy about it though, its natural for human to outlive their pets.

ive been through this before, i had my dog ever since i was about a month old aswell, she was a german Sheperd, 14 years old when she developped cancer on her shoulder, she was either going to doe painfully from the cancer, or get her put down, so we decided to put her out of her misery....

a few months after that we got a new dog, as it grew up one of its legs didnt develop probperly and so she aws kinda like a three legged dog, as that was all she could use... she was in a lot of pain when ever she tried to walk, and couldnt walk 20 metres without buckling and us having to carry her home....

so i know what its like to lose such a close friend like that, and as the geologist said, time heals all wounds....

hope you dont stress about it too much and let it affect you for a long period of time...

I found my 17 year old cat dead in the garage. She died alone, which is the way she would have probably wanted it. For the prior 3 weeks she acted very strangley... slow and old basically. Then the night before she died she wouldnt leave the garage so we just left her there. When I woke up and went to my garage to get ready for school the next morning.. well, be damned if I cried. Was in 6th grade, about 5 and a half years ago.

Yeah...cats almost always die alone, I wonder why they want to so much.

Lol because everybody knows you are good with animals.  Oh wait, no, they were placed on this earth by god for you to eat.  You are heartless and senseless when it comes to animals, and it's most evident in the video you created of your decaying dog in your yard.

Not everybody thinks like you do.

But this in no way means that I don't agree.  Fuck, I would have slaughtered and eaten that goat in a heartbeat.

It's much better if they don't tell you until you get back.  If you're told while you're away from home, you feel like absolute shit, then you're depressed for a while, and then you really want to come home but get even more depressed because you can't.

Your family did the right thing.
